We had the good fortune of connecting with Yella Vanella and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yella, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
One of the most important decisions that I made toward my success is to start really believing in myself. I have been reflecting by taking a lot more time to myself. It really does help you understand what you really want and don’t want. So when you go into the world, you can make your decisions better and better each time.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my business back in 2016 while living in Georgia. I remember I was going through a rough breakup, but I decided to move and start something new! So I created A Yella Moment Of Movements, or YMOM. Starting out with my t-shirts, I branched out into other avenues. Upon moving to California, I wanted to add more to my company. So I added more hand embroidery and painting, pet sitting/grooming business, and now I have my fragrance line out called Y. Y, Because I Said So. No matter what happens, I try to stick to my word. Life can get hard at times. So I would do things for myself that kept my head up. So now I have multiple business within my company to be able to create what I want for the future! With all of the art I create and products I sell, I hope to be able to give back and show my philanthropist side. You can’t see it now, but no one can truly see the future! You just have to believe!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend show up here in California, I would take them to some of these hidden spots here in LA. LA has the best spot for anything. If you can think of it, you can probably find a place that has it!

I would ideally go get food somewhere nice by the beach. I’m all about trying to keep the peace. There is this really nice restaurant called Cafe on 27. I recommend everyone go. So peaceful to eat in a mountain. Then I would get my tents and we would go to the beach and watch movies and eat snacks and food at night! The rest is a surprise if you are truly my friend!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give this moment to God. I’ll be honest, times are weird for me right now mentally. I have been to myself a lot, but I have to give this time to God. Without God, I wouldn’t understand why certain things happen to us. I am thankful for the random people that have been there and helped with what they could, but God is really who has been taking out what is needed and making sure I keep my head up while I get blessed with what needs to stay with me!
