We had the good fortune of connecting with Nina Ferentinos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nina, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Born and raised in northern Germany I grew up with a lot of discipline and the belief, that everyone can achieve everything if they work hard enough. It took me several years to find out what is the one thing I am willing to work on every day without getting tired. When I got my first camera (a gift from my husband 😃 ) I could not stop trying it out and soon after I took my first workshop to learn how to take better pictures. Then people started asking me to take their family pictures and I learned how to guide and pose them.
When I realized how valuable my work is and how important it is to capture a moment that will never be the same everything changed for me.
And I bring with me all the perks that exist for the Germans: I am RELIABLE, HONEST, and very PUNCTUAL. But I also learned a lot from the American culture: Kindness is on every daily schedule and the best part: It’s for free. I love that most Americans are just friendly and kind!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Lifestyle photographer, specializing in Families & newborns, based in Atlanta. Lifestyle just means that I document the family`s interaction with each other, rather than just stiff poses. Yes, I still guide them, but sometimes the in-between moments matter the most and make you feel something.
I want my clients to feel the connection they have with their loved ones when they look at my images.
LAST YEAR I added Personal Branding and Headshots to my repertoire because I know of the power that great images can have on every thriving business.
What sets me apart is that I truly listen to my client’s needs and then serve them in the best way possible.
Before every photoshoot, I would have a complimentary consultation where I ask all the important questions and find out where and how they would like to be photographed and get to know them.
THIS YEAR I implemented FINE ART SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY in my business, where I want to give to parents multiple poses to choose from in an online gallery instead of only one stiff pose. So far it has been wildly successful and I have more and more schools signing up!
In my family photography business, I also expanded my services and am now traveling with my clients if they need me to.
You need a photographer while you travel to Italy to visit your parents? No problem! The opportunities are endless. I try to make everything possible. That always reflects my work and outcome. I am only satisfied when my clients are happy.
It took me a while to understand that this is the most important factor in having a successful business. Only by striving to give your best to every client you can set yourself apart from others and build relationships for a lifetime.
Have you ever had a customized photo session where everything is tailored to you and your family? If not I am happy to assist. Want your family on the top of the mountain or at the beach? Let’s plan it.
Want to replace that 10-year-old canvas over the fireplace? Let’s do it.
Don’t know what to wear for your photoshoot? I come to your house and I go over the clothes in your wardrobe with you!
You want to look your best on that special day? No problem, I have a hair- and makeup artist ready to come to the place of your choice.
The same rules apply to my Personal Branding clients that decided to elevate their Brand by adding professional images to their website and social media. I have an in-home studio where all the Personal Branding sessions take place after my clients have their Make up done by one of my Makeup artists.
It’s an ALL-IN-ONE experience where my client’s only job is to show up after a good night’s sleep.
How easy is that?
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Sandy Springs close to Abernathy Greenway makes it very easy to have much fun without even entering a vehicle. We love to hang out on the swings at City Green and have lunch after at Flower Child. On the weekends in the summer, we even have concerts on the green! When I am not working we like to explore the City Springs area, which is within walking distance from our Sandy Springs house. About 2 years ago we discovered “The Select” and fell in love with their french inspired cuisine and the extraordinary cocktail selection. You have to try the “Birds of Paradise” that is being presented in a bird-shaped cocktail class. Very tasty!”
With visitors, we often visit the Georgia Aquarium and an Atlanta United game at the Mercedes Benz Arena. Buckhead Village offers great shopping and dining opportunities and a walk at the BeltLine is always fun and exciting…
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest Shoutout goes to my little sister Jenny. She was always my biggest fan and supporter. As an engineer, she loves everything about numbers and math, but as a people person, she understood that I am happiest when I can create my art. Every Christmas she would send me gift vouchers for photography courses so I would keep going in the right direction…
