Meet Dezy Jackson Hughes | Professional Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dezy Jackson Hughes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dezy, why did you pursue a creative career?
I Iove to express myself differently and freely! Being able to be creative in makeup is a wonderful feeling and seeing how it all comes together when you’re complete just gives you that “ Yessss” feeling! Whether it’s soft or dramatic it’s a beautiful work of art that I’m able to create and someone can wear proudly.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
This journey is my journey! I try Not to compare myself to any other artist, but genuinely clapping for them and wishing them nothing but success and blessings in their business. Ive gotten where I am today by working hard, determination, and a lot of prayer! Remembering that what God has for me and my business will happen in due season and to remain humble and consistent! I make it a point to make sure my brand stands for self love and knowing that there’s beauty before the brush ever strokes! I’m a huge advocate for self esteem and self confidence and even as a makeup artist I make sure my clients know that I’m not making you beautiful you were that before you sat in my chair and I’m merely enhancing what you already have.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love a good place to eat like Roc South Cuisine, 5 Church, Fins and Feathers, Milk and honey, Atlanta fish market and so many other places. And honestly my one of my favorite places to go and spend time with my family has been the Georgia Aquarium.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The biggest shout out goes to my family! My husband and kids! They have made some major sacrifices with supporting me and my career. With moving from one state to another, having to adjust to a new norm, me working long days and most weekends. I truly appreciate and love them so much. Thanks for the reminders of “Babe, you’re going to be ok! Just keep going” or “mommy you’re the best” they mean more than you know!
And of course God! Because without him I’m nothing! My faith in him means everything to me and with out him I wouldn’t be no where near where I am today…. And I’m truly just getting started. Acknowledging him first will definitely lead you in the right directions.
