We had the good fortune of connecting with asoul and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi asoul, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued becoming an artist because of my passion for music. I’ve grown up to be heavily involved with music as my family all grew up in church and all were a part of a choir. I also was in choir for both church and school.

With the passion for music being strong in my family I feel strongly supported in becoming an artist.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When it comes to my art, I become a bit personal. That doesn’t always mean the lyrics themselves by the way I sing/play that sometimes holds the greater meaning behind it.

I’m proud to have released my new single “love yuhself” this past Valentine’s Day and also my BitterSweet EP. I’m working on a new project currently so stay tuned!

The fact that I’ve been involved with music for a long time between family and personal exploration has put me where I am professionally. However, without the support that I have from friends and family I don’t think I would be where I am currently. I’d really love to shoutout to tauruio again as he’s been extremely supportive and all around appreciated for all his collaborations with me and hope to continue doing so in the future.

The professionalism came with practice overall which made it difficult at times but giving myself enough room to grow and having tremendous support has really gotten me there.

The hardest lesson for me was that I won’t be perfect but I’ll be me. For I am just a soul drifting in this world like anyone else. As a poet would say I’m only being snazzy.

Essentially, that’s my whole brand. It just means that I’m proud to be myself but that doesn’t disregard that I’m just “asoul” like everyone else. So I have that come through my music.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As far as travel is concerned, I would tour Europe just as it was a teen fantasy but recently I’ve been eyeing Japan and South Korea.

If it were a week long, there wouldn’t be much of an itinerary since me and my friends would most likely want to wander around. But personally, I would probably just want to reserve at a ton of restaurants.

The only thing I would do besides eat food the whole trip is visit Mount Fuji and go to a nice hot spring. Also I hear that Ghibli Park is amazing and would be a personal favorite because I love their anime and the music from them.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to artist tauruio for being supportive. Throughout my artist journey they’ve been there for me with everything and could not be where I am without their help today.
