We had the good fortune of connecting with Thosha Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Thosha, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always been a right brain type of thinker; gravitating more towards the more intuitive type of thinking. Everything I have ever been involved in touched on the creative side of things. I loved to craft in school and create art; I felt like it was a way for me to express myself and tell a story.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Where do I even start; In a nutshell I got to where I am at today by taking a step out on faith honestly. I have been an employee since I was 13 years old. I have done varies jobs from retail customer service to corporate America. I always jumped around and explored my options in my younger years. It ultimately landed me in the airlines industry where I spent roughly the last 15 years. While in the airlines industry I learned many things to apply to my own life endeavors; I also learned that I was not created to work a 9-5, or work for less than what I deserved. After giving a particular major airline 10 years of my life I was fired due to my health condition causing me to miss days of work. It was in that moment that I realized this was a blessing in disguise. I was always a firm believer that if a door is never opened for you, it was not meant to be, and if a door was shut on you it was no longer for you. God shut that door in my favor because if he didn’t everything, I asked of him would not be possible. Making the decision to leave my job and take a step out on faith was always a thought but nothing more than that. God snatched it from me to make room for all that I asked for in my modeling career and other ventures. I have turned my daily life into a brand; working hard to show individuals that look like me how to be confident in their stance in life and be proud of who they are. Growing up it was rare that individuals told their truths during their climb to success. I want my brand to tell a story and allow the world to see that even through trials and tribulations you can still prevail. There is no one on this planet that controls our destiny besides you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely hit up Portillo’s because it reminds me of home. We would get Italian beef sandwiches and Maxwell Polishes. I would definitely take them to the fabrication yard and have a photoshoot out with my bestie. We would definitely checkout the new black owned art museum and the waterfalls. I am very much a homebody so anything outside of the above listed would most likely be a play it by ear type of vibe.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Most Definitely!! My mother hands down deserve all the credit in the world. Without her I would be homeless on the street with my dreams and my son; because of my mother I have been able to take on some opportunities that I otherwise would have had to pass up. She has been my rock and my momager since before I was old enough to even realize it. For all that she does for myself and my son she deserves the utmost respect and praise. In my journey to the top, I will make sure she needs for nothing. When I have it, she will too.
