We had the good fortune of connecting with Donta Henson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Donta, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The short answer is perseverance. Building a successful business from the ground up is a marathon rather than a sprint. It takes time to learn the ins and outs of your industry, raise the needed funding, assemble your team, and grow your business. Undoubtedly there will be hurdles to accomplishing each of these things, and if you don’t persist and persevere, you’re guaranteed failure.
What should our readers know about your business?
Los Hermanos Tequila was founded as Maryland’s first Black and veteran-owned tequila company. In addition to the distinctly smooth profiles of Los Hermanos 1978 tequila, our company’s mission sets us apart from the competition. Los Hermanos 1978 was born through shared experiences, and we’ve made it our mission to create a tequila that would be worth you sharing with your friends and loved ones. There have been many ups and downs since we founded the company, but each of these hurdles has made us wiser and stronger. The best advice I could give anyone is to build a network and not be afraid to ask for help. There’s more help out there than you think
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Forks and Flavors is lively and always a good time. Monday Night Brewing’s Garage location is another fun place to visit.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate a shoutout to my wife, Candice Henson. She’s been right there by my side through this entire journey.
