We had the good fortune of connecting with Twiggy Will and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Twiggy, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always been a creative. It’s just how my brain works. I’ve always had to make up little songs or scenarios to help me learn anything I’ve wanted to learn, so it just made sense for me to use those skills to create a career!

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I grew up next door to a church and that was where I practiced my craft and it really instilled a lot of discipline in me. It taught me to make sure that I understood the words that I was singing in order to get my point across without having to scream or be super extra about it. Later in college, while I was getting my degree in Theatre it was a similar experience. When you care about the words you’re singing and you put yourself in the song, people feel that. The journey to actually becoming an artist though was was/is far from easy. It takes even more discipline, time, and money. Sometimes people think it should happen just like that, but it’s a slow climb that isn’t always filled with excitement. No one sees all of the work that goes on behind the scenes. I would say that one of the most important lessons that I’ve learned is that comparison is a thief of creativity and joy. My journey is on a timeline all of its own, so rather than compare it to other artists, i’m just enjoying the ride and that makes everything much more fulfilling. When you see me in a photoshoot, music video, or on a release date, know that i’ve worked for that moment. You just didn’t get to see the hard part.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
my best friend actually did just visit recently! I made sure to hit the High Museum of Art. The Stephen Burks: Shelter in Place exhibition was there at the time and I love a chance to learn about African American artists.
We got some hot lemony pepper wings from MY personal favorite ATL wing spot, J.R Crickets (I’m not going to argue with anyone about this)
It’s a must that i take people to Chinatown mall on Buford highway, they have an awesome variety of spots so you can dabble at multiple.
Of course we checked out the eastside beltine trail from Piedmont all the way to Krog Street Market for some spicy dumplings at Gu’s Kitchen. The street artists were out and we got to watch a new mural go up!
Brunch at APT 4B is a must as well as Snooze, an AM Eatery.
Atlanta is the most exciting place I’ve ever lived and I always manage to find something I love anywhere I go. The culture here is unmatched and i’m just so happy to be here.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, my family has been amazing on this journey. There’s never been a moment in this lifetime where I haven’t felt their support in any endeavor. They have always recognized my talent and done whatever they can to nourish it. My Manager, Jeda is also a huge pillar of support for me. A lot of new artists don’t have any guidance in this game, but it is such a comfort to know that someone in the room is in my corner and is watching out for me. Lastly, my “cousins”. My supporters go so hard for me that they feel like family and I’m always trying to make them proud and give them a reason to!
