We had the good fortune of connecting with 3RDegree Nikee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi 3RDegree Nikee, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
3 Magic Words is an amazing book. The book has very powerful messages. Also 3 Magic Words has a strong mental exercise after each chapter which helps you feel more in control of your mind. The book has confirmed many things I already knew like speaking things into existence, believing what you manifest, and where to put your energy into.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Music became almost like an escape from reality at that time of my life. And to be completely honest it was one of the few things I was actually good at and quickly my passion for making music grew. Around the same time, I was able to reenroll into school. I was only a couple credits shy from graduating. Although at times it seemed that all the odds were against me, music Gave me a new purpose and it gave me new goals to set and strive for. During that time I was around a lot of different artist, exposing myself to different personalities. I knew that I didn’t wanna be labeled as a “rapper”, i wanted to be in my own lane. I started working with different engineers. I started networking at all events I ran across, always speaking to those who seemed to have it together. My first artist name was “Nike”. I used to introduce myself as “Nike” with one “E” but It didn’t match my persona just yet. Plus I didn’t want others to confuse my artist name with the actual brand “Nike”. I decided to add 3RDegree to the beginning of Nike, making my artist name “3rdegree Nikee” by also adding an extra E onto “Nike”. As I continued to pursue music I became more diverse with a unique sound of my own. Even today as I get exposed to new genres and different beats I’m still evolving. I have a real passion for music so it’s not difficult creating as long as I can find the beats that speak to me. Among numerous struggles I would say one of my personal struggles has been consistency. Being an artist doesn’t mean your personal life wont hinder you from achieving certain accomplishments. Another struggle is getting people to believe in your dream like you believe in yourself. Today, the battle of becoming a successful music artist is over saturated. That makes it difficult throughout the years to get people to actually indulge in everything you do musically. Lastly One of the struggles is getting out of your own way. A lot of us artist tend to always be in our head deciphering what is the next move or how to do this and how to go about that. That type of responsibility and overthinking is overwhelming and can stress you out more than it should honestly.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For an amazing time I would definitely start off taking them to The LA Fitness in Brookhaven for a light work out . After possibly go to maybe the Beltline grab Playabowl ,enjoy the views, and ride the scooters around. Of course I would have to hit The Kolab Studios to record because it’s amazing seeing the process of me creating as a music artist. For food an a drink or two I would have to say The Lion over off Buford. That’s just one day of stay it is plenty more exciting places to go to during the week but that’s my go to.
