We had the good fortune of connecting with Frankspassion and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Frankspassion, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My thought process towards my artistic career is based on the idea to follow what you’re truly passionate about. I feel you should make time to do the things that you love that brings you at peace. Keep your inner child alive

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would say that my art is inspired by the fact that I am a fan and a lover of music. I just wish to see music win and continue to grow. I simply see music as an evergrowing tree everyones carving their name into. Understanding there are so many styles and approaches to it and appreciating that artists perspective. I was inspired to make music by my upbringing and musical influences. From family and friends to video games and movie sound tracks. Music is in everything and the diversity of cultures making music bigger than it’s ever been. There’s so many techniques that exist that it’s beautiful. Music has been around for a ridiculous number of generations, and look at how far it’s propelled

My curiosity to try to even create music was amplified by the people I was around and the music I was being introduced to. In time, things began to feel natural, and me even doing my own homework or, again, being introduced to artists helped. I also changed my mindset at how I looked at creating. If you listen closely, Jazz is in almost everything and i love when theres a swing in the music. Whether it be the vocals or the beat. I analyze the people I enjoy listening to the most for techniques or ways to improve, and I feel like I’m getting better. I want to keep the hunger and the student mentality while having fun. I don’t look at making music as a chore. I do it when I feel it, and I create based on feeling. Everyone is different, but I feel I create the best when I feel it while keeping the feeling of fun in the atmosphere.

Some of the lessons that I’ve learned that work for me is to not seek validation. Create for yourself and share your art or perspective with the world. What’s for you will be there and those that enjoy your work will connect with you. I never try to force my art onto anyone. Do things you’re passionate about. You don’t want years later going by saying, “I wish I had. “….. no…… do it now and live a purposeful and fulfilling life. It’s more than just working a 9 to 5. Make time for yourself to do the things you love. Do what you’re passionate about

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would tell them to visit in Brooklyn and look for “Black Nile” you won’t be disappointed and its black owned.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Donelle Valentine definitely deserves a shoutout. His music is surprisingly so easy to listen to. I say that because he’s my friend. Not all the time are friends genuinely supportive or happy for people but that man’s music is really good. It can be played anywhere and anytime and he’s very versatile
