We had the good fortune of connecting with Yanni K Babii and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yanni K, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I honestly pursue an artistic career because that’s what makes my soul sing. Since the age of 5 I’ve been in the arts. Dancing, acting, modeling, playing instruments, writing songs and plays. It’s really all I know and all that makes me happy besides my wellness business I have. It ignites my spirit and allows my souls to be free and follow out it’s purpose. I love seeing the smiles on peoples face when I perform. The energy they give is go pure and contagious! It allows me to help tell my story and allow them to get lost in our similar hurts, happiness and successes! It’s amazing here! I love it! Lol

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel like what sets me apart from other artist is the fact that I’m not other artist. I’m Yanni K Babii. I r been through different struggles, test, times and experiences. Although yes, it might be around the same subject, I can only tell how I felt during the process. My authenticity to my path and my journey is what sets me apart. I’m most proud of the fact that I haven’t changed my style and approach for anyone else but me genuinely. I’m excited to have gotten so much love with me doing so. Of course it wasn’t easy getting to where I’ve gotten. The no’s. The yes that turned into No’s later down the line. Those moments of burn out, writers block and fear. On the flip side, over coming all of those fears and tribulations. Those indecisive decisions and leaps of faith needed to keep going make it all worth it. To see my power ignite my passion! It amazes me and let’s me know that I have what it takes and that I must keep going. I definitely want the world to know that through all the lessons learned, all of the risk, the gambles, I bet on myself because I know I can achieve what I set my mind to.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So bestfriend, the first place we’re hitting up is The Parlor. It’s a one stop shop. You want a variety of food options? They have it! Drink options? They have it! Live music? They have it! Then, we might go to Off Key on the Westport for a little karaoke and a good night on the town while bar hopping. That’s if we want to get wild. Live life on the edge a little bit. Haha. Now, if we are wanting a more cool, laid back vibe, we’d go to the Green Lady or a nice chill Jazz spot. Enjoy some live music and drinks while we get inspired to go to the studio right after. I absolutely love our look outs and museums so definitely make a few stops to visit those. And of course we’ll have to pick up a game at the Chiefs Stadium.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a shout out to The Most High God first off. Next Jessica Dalby for allowing me this opportunity alongside my family and friends who have supported me along the way. All of my supporters who have been showing me nothing but genuine love!!!
