Meet Dodd Williams | Franchise Owner/Repicci’s Franchising Chief Operations Officer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dodd Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dodd, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After having a corporate career for many years I felt it was time for a change. My children were both in college and I was looking for something that would allow me to spend more time at home and operate my own business. Working for many years for different corporations, I felt I had gained the business knowledge to start a venture of my own.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We became a part of the Repicci’s family here in Atlanta in 2018. The company roots are as authentically Italian as our Italian ice and gelato. Dominic Francesco Repicci immigrated from Messina, Italy to America in 1911, he brought with him his recipe for Italian Ice. Dominic shared his family’s Italian treat in his South Philadelphia neighborhood. Before long, Dominic found himself producing his family’s Italian Ice to meet an overwhelming demand. Since then, we have leveraged our unique products into the successful business it is today.
Repicci’s now has multiple franchises operating in the states of Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Colorado and the Carolinas.
Starting a new business always comes with opportunities. As we found out, operating your own food truck comes with its own unique challenges. We learned very quickly about commissaries, permits, marketing and event booking. Thankfully, the food truck industry around Atlanta is very close. They are always willing and ready to lend a helping hand with opinions and suggestions. And, of course, once we thought we had it figured out COVID hit. We had to step back and adjust to the new environment.
The past 5 years has been an incredible journey not without its frustrations, however we have always felt welcomed and supported by the people of Atlanta. We get to be a part of some of the most amazing events in Atlanta and throughout Georgia. We are very proud to share our Italian Ice, Gelato, Gelati, and Sorbetto. Thank you Atlanta for all your support! And we look forward to serving you in the future.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta has so many sites and activities for visitors to experience. We of course love the food truck events. You can find a food truck somewhere in Atlanta every night. Some of our favorite spots in Atlanta are The World of Coke, The Georgia Aquarium, and The Battery. Some other great spots to visit are the city of Marietta and the quaint town of Blue Ridge. There is something for everyone in Atlanta!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Hands down it’s the Atlanta food truck community and our loyal customers! From Repicci’s Franchising, event organizers, coordinators, planners and food truck owners that have supported and guided us throughout this process. Though there are many ice cream and Italian ice trucks in Atlanta, we have been very successful with our premium products we provide to our customers and they have continued to support us through the years.
