We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Okubanjo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was already doing kids parties and wasn’t charging anyone. It was my friends kids and I love entertaining kids. Well I didn’t know how it was a business. Covid 19 started and like everyone else trying to figure how to kill time during the uncertainty. I was in the house and strolling on Tic toc and so I seen someone doing balloons and I was like I can do that. I bought a machine and some balloons and build a column (small one) with the letter B on it. I posted it.The one mom that I been doing parties for she stated why don’t you add this to your business. I was like I don’t have a business she stated yes you do Big E Events. Back story my nickname is Biggie so that’s where the Big E came from. Big E Events blossom not only to kids parties but also to adults, baby showers, graduation and also incorporating making T-shirt’s. Now year 2 I have grown and started a LLC business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I always had a great personality and people really love to be around me. When I tell you this was a gift for God it was. I never really thought of myself as being creative. I love seeing people faces when I finish their events. I offer so much from balloons arches, hosting their events or just making them a t-shirt. So having all this is in my back pocket helps with a one stop shop.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First pick them up at the airport Go back to the house fresh in up and explore Queen City Next I love going to a brunch spot (black own).
Shopping is always a must.
I am a sport fan so maybe catch a game (basketball or football)
Go back to the house change into night wear
Capture the night go to a live band lounge and turn it all the way up

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First I want to give God all the Glory for giving me this gift. I always you to say that I wasn’t creative and boom I started a business creating memories for families. Second I want to shoutout all my supporters, customers and families who believe in my gifts and continue to support my business. Lastly, my number one supporter is my sis Mickey for believing in my vision and also keeping me rolling through her business to create memories for others. Thank you all so much as I continue to grow!!!!!
