We had the good fortune of connecting with B Cooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi B, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson being in business for myself has taught me is to stay focused on the bigger vision, and continuing to step out of my comfort zone day by day to achieve success. For example: each day brings obstacles that allow me to learn and strengthen my skill set, as well as my ability to be a leader at the same time. As I’m guiding my employees, I am still learning and perfecting my craft.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am driven and determined to be my family’s first millionaire so I started my business from the ground up with the intent to work 24 /7 to achieve my goals and progress daily. Shyne Auto Detail was established with just me being the sole detailer of the company, now I can proudly say I have grown to 3 detailers and will continue to grow. My biggest challenge in attempting to expand is finding and keeping good trainable people to work with, as well as people who share the same values in customer service and detailing. Our main goal is to provide a quality service that none of our competitors can beat. We strive to be an elite company with highly trained professionals that are able to attack any situation. As a business owner I’m constantly working on balancing my personal schedule along with my business responsibilities, such as managing our booking site, social media account(s), and brand appeal; as well as solidifying contracts.
When I first started my detail journey in 2013 I was working at a car wash at the time in Nashville TN , just wanting to earn some cash money everyday. There I experienced a lot of shady things such as my checks and tips were being shortened, and my time was not being respected. I realized that at that point something had to change, so I figured working at a dealership might be a little more professional. By 2015 I moved to Atlanta and decided to seek employment on a dealership level. I got the job and rapidly advanced to a Dealership Detail manager traveling weekly to 20 different dealerships in the Atlanta metro area. There I progressed to managing my own dealership in the detail department. In 2018 I took a good look at my life and decided that I should value myself more. Being the only African American female in the company is a major deal and gave me motivation to birth Shyne Auto Detail.
The experience that I have learned in dealership cleaning has allowed me to be ahead of the game. There is nothing that we can’t handle! I take pride in saying that which is one factor that sets us apart from my competitors and the fact that I am a African American woman in a stereotypical man’s world. I want the world to know my company and name when they see or hear it and I’m a strong believer of staying true to yourself and believing that you can accomplish anything through faith. I quote “To thine own self be true.”
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When my family comes to Atlanta I love to show them a Shyne Litty Weekend. This turn up consists of a Friday afternoon boat ride on Allatoona Lake with a night on the city at Cirque Daiquiri Bar and Lounge. Followed by Saturday lunch and hookah at Harold’s Chicken & Ice Bar. After ending a mature night at The Cheetah Lounge, Sunday brunchreservation at Negril Village Atlanta is where we will wine down for the weekend.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my wife who is full time running her own business (Star Status Lashes) as well as managing my business. We both have taught each other a lot throughout the years. Also my family that has stepped up and help carry the business thus far. As well as I want to take the timeout and shoutout myself for my growth and to know that I have come a long way and still have a long way to go, and I will not give up until I succeed.
