Meet Marion Naccache | French photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marion Naccache and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marion, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
After graduating in criminal law, I started thinking about my professional future. I’m lucky to have been able to do these studies but in France there aren’t many opportunities in this field and I knew that I wouldn’t be fulfilled. My real passion is photography, not really the same. I wanted to travel, create and be professionally free. I found the au pair program in the US, a good way to know me and the world.
So I make the most difficult decision when I choose to come and live in the US. I left behind my life, my family, my friends.
Arriving in Atlanta, I had the chance to meed inspiring people in the world of photography. I learned many things, it proved to me that it’s possible to live from a passion and artistic careers can be encouraged and recognized. So why not me? Now I know that it can work, even in France where art is mainly considered as a hobby.
Coming to live in another country with another language and another culture is a real daily challenge. But it’s also the best decision I’ve made, I got answers to my questions.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I live in the south of France, in a small city called Rodez. There, professional career are more « traditional ». Artistic and creatives jobs are mostly considered as hobbies. But these career are no different from others, it takes effort, investment and practice. It’s a big challenge for me to start something serious in the artistic field, I know that here in the United States it works. In France, it is different and I would like to bring back this American, enthusiastic and positive vision in my country. No matter of failures and mistakes I choose to make it an experience and keep the best from it in order to challenge and improve myself. It’s normal not to always succeed, I want to learn and keep moving forward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I will spend my first day in the midtown area, starting with the Botanical garden, lunch in Piedmont park and afternoon at the High museum of art. In the evening I would eat in colony square and maybe relax at the VIP cinema at Ipic or rooftop at Virtue. The second day I will take her in the footsteps of Martin Luther King in South Atlanta then on the Jackson street bridge, an emblematic place in The Walking dead. Afternoon on the Beltline, dinner at Ponce city market and late evening at the Clermont hotel (rooftop or club).
We would rent a car to go for 3 days to see the forests and mountains of Georgia, Dalhonega, Helen, Amicalola Falls, Chattanooga.
For the weekend Day in Dowtown with the Coca cola museum, the aquarium, CNN and skyview, dinner at the Hard rock café or the emblematic Varsity and we would go to see a game or a concert at the mercedez benz stadium or state farm arena.
A quiet Sunday in Buckhead village, window shopping in Lenox and the end of the evening in the magical Garden Room of the St Regis hotel.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I find my inspiration in my family, they are all creative. My mother paints, my father knows how to build everything, my grandmother was a recognized seamstress and my grandfather, the most talented, knew how to do everything, from photography, to drawing and sculpture. I picked something that worked for me and made it a passion. About the support, it comes from my family, my friends and my entourage, from the people who arrived in my life, whether they are still there or not, I would like to thank them for believing in me.
Social media also plays an important role, I choose to share my work more and more and it is appreciated, I receive many compliments and messages of encouragement. I am grateful for the benevolence and kindness of the people I meet.
