We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Macias and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking a risk has been the most important choice that I’ve made in my life.Taking a chance on myself and not counting myself short when aiming towards my career goals is most important to me. I’ve found that I really am capable of doing whatever it is that I set my mind to. My career has transformed exponentially since I’ve adopted that mindset. If I didn’t take a risk and try with my passions, I wouldn’t be the person that you see today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Model/Actress who has Vitiligo. It’s a skin condition that 1% of the population of the world has. It spreads with stress and there’s no cure. Growing up when I was young there was never any talk of models or even artists with my condition. The typical model was an alternative model with tattoos & piercings or a bikini model. It was my goal to make my way into the industry despite not being a “typical model” and I’m so glad I’ve been fortunate enough to make it this far. It definitely was not easy. But I’ve always seen things from the bigger picture. I want to be a positive influence on not only young kids but adults as well because I didn’t have that when I was growing up. I want to show them that it’s important to be proud of who you are just the way you are. And that’s more than enough.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start the trip by taking her to visit the Sky Line. Have a picnic at Centennial Park. Visit Amicalola Falls. Visit Krogg Street tunnel . Go to the Atlanta Belt line and view the Art at the Historic Fourth Ward Park. Lastly I would have dinner at 9 mile kitchen on the rooftop of ponce city market.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t have been able to achieve the goals I’ve had without the support of my family and friends I’ve met throughout this journey. Their genuine presence in my life has had such a positive impact on me. I thank them so much for that.
