We had the good fortune of connecting with Nia Sinkler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nia, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to show you can come from some many downs in life and break generational curses. You don’t have to be what you come from. I want to show I had a purpose and I fulfilled just that for not only myself but my children. I want to be remembered for my love for cooking and how I made a connection with my customers giving them an at home feeling. I want others to always remember I am a person who they can always come to no matter it’s for food or talks. I have a lot of customers who just tend to open up to me and I love that. It gives me a feeling that I have made connections just over the warmth of cooking.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am most proud of myself for finally not just talking about it but doing it. I get excited to see that I have customers who genuinely love what I cook and even tells others about my food. I was able to reach this level in my career by actual stepping out on faith. I lost my job and was offered to cook at a club doing my own thing with my business. It was a lot to achieve and definitely has not been an easy ride for me. It’s a lot that comes with the industry I am in. From the food cost to the promoting yourself to get yourself out there. I had talks with my friend Frank about how to give the customers what they want in every way and how to market myself. I had to stay up and wake up early to do prep and market myself. Make sure I have all my legal stuff together. I finally was able to achieve that after some time. I have learned that even through the lows of this you have to see the light that’s at the end. Nothing comes easy and if you are disciplined on yourself you’ll fail easily. I know I may not have every customer experience go great but if I can make majority of them be that then I did well. I want others to know that Nini’s Kitchen & Purpose Sweet Treats is a business that may be small at the moment but we give you that mamas cooking feel.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would eat at this place called love at first bite. They have breakfast and dinner options. The drinks are amazing and the vibe is unmatched. For our sweet tooth we would have to go to this cookie place called sugar Shane’s ! They have stuffed cookies and when I say they are beyond anything you could imagine. My fav is the s’mores cookie. For the some fun drinks snogoodsnoballs are my go to. They have some wild good flavored snowballs with some many great toppings. For fun adventures we would go to cloverland ranch and ride the atvs and horses. Next up would be pin proper in Atlanta. They have a night vibe with free mimosas and games to play. They even have midnight brunch.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother is the one who gave me the ropes and some family recipes. My little sister daya and big brother Kieran has helped me with certain dishes and always being my Guinea pigs at times. I really want to thank my friends. My best friend for almost a decade Chandler has been there for all my lows and all my highs ! She has gave me so much talk and always encouraged me to do something with myself. My best friend Kalilah we have been friends since the fifth grade. This girl here is a hardworking hustler for real ! We have shared our downs and highs and she’s always like Nia you need to start this cooking stuff and do something with it. She’s literally ordered from me and supported me from jump.
My friends from my old job Frank, Kayla, & Nik have helped me gain soo much confidence. I started making them treats and food and bringing it to work and they always gave me soo much feedback and gave me ideas to try. I truly am blessed to have all of them in my corner. They have all been through my struggles and wanted to see me win and I can truly say we may not be blood but we are FAMILY !
