Meet Jules Lavallee | Celebrity Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jules Lavallee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jules, what do you attribute your success to?
When I was younger, I always had the desire to make a difference and I knew that I was different. I was a great student and an even better listener. I had dreams of being an anchorwoman. When I did my internship at NECN, I realized quickly that the producers have control over the narrative. I always knew the power of the media and I wanted to use it for the voice of the voiceless. My journey led me to writing for Software Magazine and CIO Magazine. I had the opportunity to meet the most powerful people in tech. Shawn McConnon who was the CEO of Okena which was sold to Cisco Systems for $154M. Shawn was my mentor. I always surrounded myself with highly-intelligent people who have succeeded in business. I watched and listened. I later worked in high-tech marketing for Orchid Technologies and I realized that I could survive in a man’s world pretty well. I was good at connecting people. I put together a deal with Intel Corp with Orchid Technologies and the rest is history.
My life also revolves around charity whether it be to help the homeless, save animals, or help the community. Again, I am good at connecting people and I enjoy planning charity events. I began helping celebs. When I built up a network, I reached out to magazines to contribute about celebs. Today, I am connected with the most powerful people on the planet through a lot of hard work and networking daily. I am a trusted freelance writer for over 20+ magazines. I write about celebs, entrepreneurs, royals, global leaders, and nonprofits. I wake up at 5 AM every day and I work. Having a strong work ethic has been the key to my success and the drive to change the world, one story at a time.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Celebrity Writer for 20+ magazines. Diversity is paramount. Being in the entertainment world for over 8 years has allowed me to connect to extraordinary people globally, it also has opened many doors to royalty. I enjoy connecting with people who are untouchable. I have gained the respect and trust from the entertainment industry, and it shows.
As a Freelance Writer, I have a diverse portfolio. I cover fashion, beauty, tech, NFT’s, nonprofits, you name it…I can write it. I enjoy writing about inspiring women entrepreneurs in particular, because I think it is critical to support each other.
The lessons I have learned along the way have been as follows, being freelance doesn’t afford as much freedom as it appears. The only way to get to my level is to connect to as many publishers as humanly possible and to network like crazy. Being freelance is a very competitive business and it takes a tough skin, PR Professionals are trying to capture the same market share and it can be vicious. On the other hand, I work with a lot of PR Professionals that see the value in my work and we build outstanding relationships…why? I make their clients shine. It is a win-win situation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Most people know that Atlanta is a vibrant city. There is a reason why Hollywood loves it so much. I love the arts. I would take friends to a show at the Fox Theater. I would also take them to the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) followed by a fabulous meal at the Spring Restaurant which also has an outstanding wine collection.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Mr. Robbins, my 8th grade teacher. Mr. Robbins saw a creative spark in my writing, and I owe my writing career to him today. Shawn McConnon my mentor who saw qualities in me that would lead to my success. My friend Ramsey who has been my rock for most of my life. Females can have a best friend who is male.
