Meet Montesha “Brackins” Ford | Self Published Author, Reverse Mentor, Ghostwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Montesha “Brackins” Ford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Montesha “Brackins”, how do you think about risk?
The term ‘Risk taking’ or ‘risk taker’ has become one of my attributes, or what’s known as characteristics. I entered the entrepreneurial branch at an age where I should’ve been studying and working towards my degree where I could’ve went down a more smoother road than what I travel down now. I’m self published I pay for everything out of my pocket. I take a lot of losses teaching myself as I move forward. I don’t have mentors or someone coaching me. The people I reach out to and ask for support is sometimes too busy so I have to stand up and be the manager, assistant, artist, illustrator with designing a book cover. It’s a little intimidating when hearing it but you have to be abled to lose to win . Practice doesn’t make perfection but PROGRESS.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I don’t know if I failed to mention I’m a self published author. I also ghost writer and reverse mentor: which means you teach me just as I teach you. This is all a journey and process for everybody to learn and develop from. I started writing when I was younger, I always knew I wanted to do it wasn’t much to develop the drive to continue until becoming published. I wanted to become a novelist … that’s more in my future.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A nice place to look over the city is Sky lounge. The view of the city is beautiful. You can mingle enjoy a nice drink and network within the right crowd.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
With so much going on right now it’s hard to honor everybody, because there are so many names that deserve to be mentioned. Calibrating and working with so many talents always make me love the ones who got me to where I am. My mother (Yvette Wells) there were times I was giving up calling it quits and her and my sister (Terrisha Barr) donated, helped market and support me when I was “done”.
I’ve had the pleasure working with Allen Johnson on a parody comic. He is mostly known as a writer, both comics films (Khajar in Cajaria is available on all Major platforms, for order both issue 1 and 2, ($2.99-4.99) however the title is under going redevelopment, for a three trade paper back series.
I also want to thank Yeadat clothing line (Cyril Baines) for always including me in the fashion model line up! Cyril is big to the community because not only does he bring another look for street apparel he has brought a 5 star seafood truck along with him. Imagine being a heavy influence in the fashion and food industry.
Last but not least she didn’t think I would ever mention her but I have to highlight this woman! Takyla Harris hairstylist & influencer on social media (Kylas luxury co, most booked on booksy) for always loving me and showing support for my T shirts and my books.
I Love you and adore all you guys . Keep moving up! I get this shine because of your support professional opinions and love thank you! S/O to a few of my loved ones for the support as well, Ladara, Aysia, Shardea Booth, WeezBeats, Shontel Huff, Hilton Falls, Johnesha Johnson, thank you all it’s so many more!
