We had the good fortune of connecting with Candice Hackett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candice, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“Accept no one’s definition of your life, define yourself” This is my favorite quote and the motto of my lifestyle. Too often, we find ourselves comparing our lives to others, whether it’s the people we see on tv and social media or those around us who seem to have something we desire. I have learned to define my own life and go after the things I want. As long as we sit around watching the works of others, we take away time that we could be utilizing to go after our own success. Success doesn’t happen overnight and it isn’t handed to us. Defining yourself and your life means being ambitious, persistent, and consistent. You can’t give up on yourself and you can’t expect things to happen overnight. Determine who you are and what you want your life to represent. If you want to be a successful entrepreneur, you have to put in the time, effort, and finances to make that happen. If you want to be an advocate for something important, create an action plan that focuses on the thing you’re advocating for. Who do you want to help? How can you help? What will it take to get your business started? What’s the best way to get started? Once you create your action plan or business plan, don’t let anyone deter you. You have to be persistent in reaching and accomplishing your goals. Everyone will have suggestions and ideas, but you have to be diligent in understanding which suggestions and ideas are feasible for YOUR life and YOUR goals.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a cosmetologist, I believe the thing that sets me apart is my customer service. No matter how busy my schedule may get, I do my best to confirm my appointments the day before. If I’m unavailable at the time of their call, I will reach out to them at my earliest convenience. If something isn’t right, I will correct it, if given the opportunity. Although I take pride in my customer service abilities, it is also my biggest challenge. Being a cosmetologist in today’s world is not an easy task. You have to stay in tune with the ever-changing hair trends and techniques. I have learned that your clientele says a lot about who you are as a stylist. If you want to attract a certain clientele, you have to study yourself and make the corrections in your craft to attract those clients. I would like the world to know that I am passionate about what I do and it’s the reason why I started my beauty supply store. Many of my clients would complain about not finding the right products and my store is a solution to their problem and hopefully many others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my story to my husband. He is my better half and has helped me to define my life in every aspect. He is truly the definition of a leader. Someone that pushes me to go above and beyond. He has always seen my potential and pushes me every day. When I wanted to give up on myself and life, he was right there to say “you got this”, “you are stronger than what you can see”, “you are smarter than you think”. I am forever grateful to be his wife and to have him apart of my life.
