We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my business Corporate Compositions LLC. was a natural response or a call to action on business to business relationships. I saw a need for wholesome uplifting music in the workplace of corporate America and through the power of creative writing, Corporate Compositions was born. Whether it’s writing a jingle for restaurants, voice drops for media outlets, or songs for commercial use in public settings, I believe that Corporate Compositions LLC. will fill the need for a positive work moral.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
From before I was born my mother has been quoting the Langston Hughes poem Mother To Son, to me. That’s where my heart for poetry begins. Born in a desert storm I’ve come to realize God gave me a voice. A voice to speak yet a mind to listen. A voice to be heard, in the back of retail stores, on songs, written jingles, commercials, voice overs, cartoons, movie scripts, documentaries, you name it. All these works breathe life into the idea of Corporate Compositions LLC. The service of music and voice. Professionally I started as an Intern for Radio One Cleveland Ohio naturally feeling my way in the dark. Trying to figure out what life has for me. One day going into a random barber shop an old man says, “What are you doing with your life?” I said to him, “Working at golden corral, pursuing my music, serving in the church. He said “If you’re good in math you could become an electrician”. My life changed after going through a 5 year apprenticeship to now being a Journeyman Wireman with the International Brotherhood Of Electrical Workers I.B.E.W Local 613 I became the #SingingElectrician. In the meantime I still write my music. My outlet is a song. Corporate Compositions LLC. is created to publish, distribute, duplicate, quantize, and monetize, these works of art. All of this is the product of a dream. You are the product of a dream.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Say best friend flew in on a wednesday I will tell her to rest because on thursday we kick off the night at Kat’s Cafe. Live band open mic. great food and drinks. friday night we go to the cigar bar. Walk on the trails on saturday up in the mountains. finally get a great word at the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give big thanks and appreciation to my friend and affiliate Lillie Jones! Her work in media has paved the way for me and my creative writing to be used in the corporate setting. In turn fulfilling my goal of a flourishing business to business relationship.
