Meet Lamar Green | Independent Artist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lamar Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lamar, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
Giving up is never an option for me. I believe you have to keep going no matter how hard it may seem and push through the obstacles you may face to get where you are trying to go. Sometimes people want to hit a home run every time they’re up at bat, but making it to first base is just important. I remind myself of this all the time because I’ve been doing music since 2006 and I used to want to be on a major label but I’ve had many accomplishments on an Indie level. If you’re passionate about something always keep going and never give up.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Originally born in Jersey, now proudly reppin’ Atlanta where he currently resides – artist L.A. MARS has been droppin’ serious verbal heat on beats since 2006, when he first broke into the independent scene. Heading confidently towards the sixteenth year of his career. L.A. MARS built a reputation of supreme excellence in entertainment over time, rightfully establishing his name in the game by genuinely puttin’ in the work, while going against the grain.
With an authentic gift for creating songs that connect through memorable hooks and true versatility in sound – L.A. MARS has an entire arsenal of singles & videos online that reveal the art of the wordsmith in full-effect. Whether singing or rapping, the man handles his business on the m-i-c with fresh energy & undeniably professional precision, creating a lasting impact on listeners found all the way around the globe digging on L.A. MARS’ humble, real, & raw approach to his lyricism & making music that matters.
Stylistically slick, even his name is a reflection of his values. L.A. MARS = Lyrically Advanced Music Always Represents Self – and anyone that’s ever held a mic or made music knows that’s the truth, 100%. Driven by creating rhythmic bars that connect through L.A.’s natural ability to design hooks that quickly turn good times into great ones – MARS has all the talent it takes to reach the top but oddly enough about three years ago L.A. was ready to call it quits. Mars was no longer motivated to create plus he was uninspired and exhausted from the trials and tribulations in his life at the time. Bills started to pile up and L.A. wasn’t getting any younger so he felt like maybe he missed the window of opportunity.
One day Mars was on YouTube and he came across a video of LL Cool J talking on Nore’s Podcast Show “Drink Champs.” On this episode LL talked about the music industry, independent artist and the HipHop culture. Cool J stated, “What I would say to all the viewers, you have to remember that Dreams Don’t Have Deadlines and you have to remember to never limit yourself.” L.A. felt like that was sign to keep pursuing music, he was so inspired by the phrase that he created a song called “Dreams Don’t Have Deadlines” and this is how the brand started and Mars never looked back since.
Every step L.A. has taken with his music and career has been a giant leap forward in front of the rest, raising the stakes & standards for the rest to follow. The innovative style, sound, & music created by L.A. MARS generates verifiable excitement and continually proves he’s light-years ahead of the next-level. A true force to be reckoned with that flexes strength through his diversity and genuine finesse in the endless stream of wild hooks & memorable moments in the magic he’s makin’ on the mic – L.A. MARS is the definition of the X-factor in action, always bringing his best and remembering DDHD.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I currently reside in Atlanta so if my best friends came in town I would take them all around Atlanta because there’s so many dope spots to visit. Atlanta is the Black Mecca so it’s only right we support black businesses so we would start off at “Breakfast at Barneys” to have some good food and drinks. Then I would show them around Peter street and Edgewood Ave to check out the scenary and of course we would have to stop at the MLK museum and I would show them MLK’s old house as well. After that I would take them to Ponce City Market and then Lenox Mall to go shopping of course. I would drive them all around buckhead and Mercedes Benz stadium to check out the views. Then I would take them to the Trap Museum and then we would probably go to a lounge and last but not least I would take them to Magic City or Blu Flame. I know my friends so this would be a lit weekend for them to experience here in Atlanta.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God and Family for giving me the strength to stay focused and also believing in me when no one else did. My daughter Kaye for being my biggest motivation. Nipsey Hussle for inspiring me to keep running laps in this marathon called life. LL Cool J for inspiring me to come up with my brand and to never give up on my dreams.
