We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Singletary and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Will, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
An important lesson I’ve learned so far in my journey has been that 1 isn’t enough, meaning you can’t get comfortable after you feel like you’ve accomplished that 1 thing you set out to do, so being consistent and doing more matters

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I look at my art as ‘Taste’ because I have many attributes to being creative. Im a drummer first, that was my very first instrument I played, I love fashion so naturally I got into modeling because I like looking crispy in clothes. Getting to where I am now hasn’t been easy, nothing about taking a risk and moving from your hometown is easy! I started taking music production really serious when my mom died. I stayed in the studio everyday, that was like my escape from what reality was, which really put some fire under me to strive to be successful for her & my family. The beginning stages of being in cali was really fun though, meeting new faces, meeting big time names, being in big time meetings & shows with labels, a great start to a long journey! Overcoming a challenge when you’re not in your hometown is pretty hard, you have ups and downs, you go through stages where you feel like is it all worth it but I have faith in the Most High so any battle I face I remember why I started and where God is taking me. “No Risk No story” Success to me isn’t based on credits or accomplishments, its about peace & happiness within your story. Its ALL MENTAL!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my family, cousins & friends back home in Detroit, Michigan. My Dad, My brothers, Eldred Jared & Eric + my baby sis Jessica. I have so many friends who inspire me as well, day 1s. I want to shoutout my cousin Vincent Berry who was a big reason I was able to start my career in La along with Josh Berry who would always tell me on FaceTime to just jump and come out there, that truly was the beginning of the journey. Mike Rooney gave me my first producer money, that’s family, he’s responsible for helping Jcole be successful in the music business. I want to shoutout Nazir Wallace (goony the greatest), Tim Boski (Bos), Mark Gingrich (HTFU), Cory Rooney (Music Producer), Jay Brooks, Slate, J Drew, Smerf, Q & Live TMG.
