We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Manning and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Every time the business has grown or progressed in a significant way, it’s been because we took a risk. It’s scary, but it’s kind of life giving too. I’m not talking about being reckless – I’m talking about that feeling when you’ve evaluated your options and you’re still afraid to make a decision. Go ahead and make it.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started Clever Tiger after working as a solo freelancer for many years. We specialize in graphic design, website design, and social media marketing. I have my dream job, honestly, and it continues to challenge me every day. Watching my “baby” business move from a basement, to a trailer, to a shared office, to a dedicated space – it feels really surreal. I’m grateful to all my clients who have helped build that strong foundation, and allowed me to grow and bring on new team members.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is tough, because there are SO many things I enjoy here! I think the nightlife in downtown Woodstock is really fun. There are also some cool places on Edgewood Avenue in Atlanta like Joystick Gamebar and Sister Louisa’s Church of the Living Room & Ping Pong Emporium (nobody calls it that though – it’s just “Church”). I also would visit the High Museum and probably MODA (Museum of Design Atlanta) where I’m a member. If the weather’s good, going to Lake Acworth “beach” is an option. There’s just a ton of stuff to do in this state, especially in a 4 hour radius of where I live. A week isn’t enough time for it all!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a few friends who are always there when I need to bounce ideas, talk something through, or get some inspiration. I think everybody needs a group of co-conspirators like that, and I’m lucky to have mine.
