We had the good fortune of connecting with DoobieWrapz Duo The OOUU Pod and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DoobieWrapz Duo, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We created this platform – to share not only our love for music with the world through The OOUU Pod (The Overly Obsessed: Unsung and Underground Podcast) but to connect with a community that explores life through a musical lens. We also want to build a community where individuals & best friends can be their truest self and strive to be their greatest self.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets us apart from others is that we are unique and original. On the OOUU POD we are always ourselves. We can never be duplicated our bond is genuine. We love Underground artist that get out here and grind everyday to make great art, music, and etc. We thrive off of that. Our love starts there. We are most proud about getting our podcast out there and talking to so many artist from new and old school. To get where we are today it took hard work and dedication. It wasn’t easy and it still isn’t. The challenges we face are trying to balance work and motherhood. Also we are in two different states Maryland and New York so trying to find time to record is hard. Another challenge was getting celebrity interviews. We did learn several lessons such as everything doesn’t happen over night it takes time to develop and for others to recognize your greatness. Also keep doing what you do no matter your audience size or what people say it will always be 1 person who is listening. We want the world to know that our brand is like many best friends, we share a lot in common; whether it be our sense of humor, our love for music, or our headscarves, hence why our brand name is The DOOBIE WRAPZ DUO.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow!! Of course we would take them to listen to some music. Whether we stop at Howard Theatre or Bethesda Blues and Jazz supper club. If you want a more intimate setting we would go hear musich at Songbryd. The atmosphere is so nice and quant. You can really feel the energy when a person perfoms in there. Also we would grab a bite to eat down South West near the wharf to enjoy the water and the great food at one of the many resturants. DC is always the place to hear some music by a local band or Underground artist. We would sip on a nice cocktail or mocktail of the guest we have. Of course we enjoy margaritas. Also last we can’t forget to go to Busboys and Poet where you can get the best of both worlds such as hearing art whether it is poetry, music, spoken word, or etc and grab something to eat and drink. Then last go downtown DC to see all the great museums. Sightseeing at its best!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our parents who introduced us to music in the first place. Where would we be without music? Shoutout to Perry and Wanda (Re parents) and Emile and Shirley (Danies parents). Our children who are now a reflection of us and love music just as much as us if not more (Kassiah and Sunai). Our significant others for pushing us to do it and to be nothing but great. Last we thanks our oouupoders for making us love what we do and why we do it!!
