Meet Douglas Showers | Hip hop artist & Drummer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Douglas Showers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Douglas, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
For me I’ll give up when music no longer inspires me. I’ll give up when music is no longer a part of my everyday life. Whether it’s me performing a song on stage or playing the drums. Everyday I’m connected to music some kind of way and when those connections are broken that’s when I’ll quit.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me a part from other musical artists is my drive and determination. I’m also very authentic in my approach to music and people and feel and hear it in my songs. I’m most proud of the fact that against all odds I’m able to make quality music that has been played in rooms and cars of people all over the world. I got to this level I’m at through alot of hard work and humbling experiences it definitely wasn’t easy and it still isn’t because everyday I gotta maintain that mindset to never relax as if I’m good enough. I overcame challenges along the way by staying grounded and always trusting the gifts God gave me. Lessons I’ve learned along the way are never get too cocky and comfortable because someone else is working just as hard as you if not harder and always work on perfecting your craft how you practice is how you’ll perform. I want the world to know that my brand and music is real and its relatable. I’m all about progression and proving doubters wrong and doing what makes me happy because at the end of the day I wanna inspire others to chase their dreams and live free.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely gotta go checkout the painted duck. It’s nice restaurant/miniature bowling spot with dope live music and good drinks. Next we’ll go to a hawks game the vibe and atmosphere is crazy especially when Trey Young shoot a 3pt shot from 30ft out lol lastly gotta check out this spot called milk and honey I love their brunch and the sweet tea is amazing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My best friend, brother, and producer Rico Lowe
