We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
The reason I never give up is because I am doing what I love, which is being creative. Throughout this journey (career journey). It is important to find your passion to fuel your purpose. Sometimes it’s hard, I have months where I fall into sad states, but what is the journey without a little bit of pain. The pain makes you stronger.. it’s life. I look at the big picture and just try to take everything day by day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Amber and I am a Digital Marketing Strategist and Content Creator (Graphic Designer). I’ve been told I am a backbone to businesses – one of the most important bones of the body. I formulate, create, and orchestrate a company’s campaign rollout. So from the plan and process to the implementation and execution I can do it. I am most proud of where I am today (as I am everyday). I come from a small city in Ohio where creativity and entertainment aren’t the forefront industries and people don’t take you serious for doing so, but I knew I had to make a way. A job position opened for me to move to Atlanta and I just took it. At the time the job wasn’t secured I just had an interview, but I booked a 1 way ticket and was flying off of faith (God knows my heart). Since moving I was able to develop my craft and work with some phenomenal brands. Has it been easy? Of course not, but is it rewarding? HELL YEA! I look at challenges as obstacles – some big some small, but I will get over all of them. Some lessons I’ve learned throughout the way is it’s cool to work for people, but establishing a name for yourself is 1) more rewarding 2) less dependable.

One thing I want the world to know about me or my brand is honestly simple and maybe cliche, but to never give up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My bestie just visited last month and honestly what we did is what I enjoy lol. I’m a small city girl so I find the smallest things fun. We did Yoga with Twerk Tabata (I love her classes and studio). Whenever Trap Karaoke is in town I buy tickets – it never stops getting lit and do you really live in ATL if you don’t brunch? My choice is Toast of course!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate my shout out to my beautiful mother. She allowed me to really fall into my creativity and ultimately my craft. She hung up all of my drawings on the kitchen cupboards and let me honestly do whatever creative I wanted even if it meant messing up parts of the house. She recognized my gift and let it develop. She’s far from creative but she allowed mine to run wild for the both of us.
