We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlene Masona and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charlene, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Lots of things make me happy. I love meeting new people, trying new restaurants, and traveling. I think a lot of my joy comes from food ha. I love spending time with my family and friends, that’s something that really excites me. I’m a social person who loves to crack jokes and make other people happy. I really love to make the most out out of life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Currently I’m a marketing professional and full-time masters student. It took me a while to get here. I have a science background so it was definitely difficult to figure out what I wanted to do for the rest of my life (it still is). I have always been a storyteller, but I didn’t really know what that meant career-wise. I decided to pursue journalism because it allows me to use my storytelling abilities in various formats. I’ve learned to trust my gut and my vision. Just because others may not understand it, doesn’t mean you won’t be successful. I just want people to know that life is full of ups and downs, but we must enjoy it while we work everything else out. We only have one life, so let’s live it up!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooooh! I actually just moved to Syracuse, New York so I’m learning the city myself. First and foremost, we would have to do brunch because what is life without a good waffle? Then we’d spend the rest of the weekend in the Finger Lakes for some great wine tours in upstate New York.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people. My family and my friends. You know who you are!
