We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach Dee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coach Dee, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my brand being successful is believing in myself first and knowing anything I want can be manifested. The success of my brands comes from knowing my worth, working hard, earning everything I get and never letting anyone devalue my worth. Remaining humble and allowing god to lead my steps. And also not worrying about what the next person is doing. Always finding creative ways to be two steps ahead of everyone else.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well currently I love doing media but its is not a full time thing due to disability. But it brings me peace to do media and bring a breathe of fresh air to a tainted industry. Some like to live off messiness. I like to make people believe in themselves and share their gifts with the world. How I got where I am today comes from hard work, dedication and not letting distractions get in the way of anything. It definitely wasn’t easy. What I had to overcome was not taking things personally and not allowing others to dictate my every move. Some will talk down on you and even try to blackball you. This is where your faith comes into play and you continue on your journey. Lessons I learned a long the way are not to reveal what you are doing until it’s done and take advantage of every opportunity that benefits you. What I want the world to know about Code31 is that you may not know me or my brand when I first walk into an event but I guarantee you will know it before the night is over. And the world will know my name and say it. It’s Code31.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out my parents especially my Mom who won’t allow me to be anything but humble no matter who I interview or elevate in the media world. There are a few more ReeRee, Jerry and Ceddy. Jerry especially for collaboration of me and Ceddy from Human Canvas Magazine. Ceddy believed in me so much I am the head journalist for Human Canvas Magazine. And Jerry calls everyday with positive strategies and motivation for me to let the world know I am Code31Media. One of the best. And lastly my true supporters on social media and my cameraman Zo for instilling the confidence in me everytime we cover events.
