We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsie Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsie, what do you attribute your success to?
I would have to say self-belief. I have definitely struggled with self-doubt (still do at times!) and that can negatively impact my business. Over time, I’ve learned to believe in myself as I gain more experience, trust that clients who see me find me for a reason, and that I can surrender my worries to something greater than me. If I just remember that I’m here to serve and support, I can really get out of my own way and remember it’s not about me. Then I have no self to doubt.
What should our readers know about your business?
When I was in graduate school to become a psychotherapist, I thought it would be interesting to use astrology in more of a psychological way, but it was just a bit of a passing thought. And after graduate school, I studied yoga, astrology, Ayurveda, Nonviolent Communication, and other modalities to supplement my work in holistic wellness, as I had been into all of them and seen how supportive they were in my own life. In my business, I primarily do astrology sessions, holistic wellness coaching work, and facilitate workshops. At times it has felt a bit all over the place, or like I don’t have enough focus, but I think a multi-pronged approach to wellness and wholeness is ultimately the best. It was difficult to work through any self-doubt, but now I don’t think about things so much and I set my intention to give the client what they need and to get out of the way, so that helps!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d say Sweetwater for brunch or dinner, and Bar Blondeau or Ramona for drinks. Saraghina has incredible pizza. I like to go to Clinton Street Baking Company on the Lower East Side for pancakes, and Butter Lane for cupcakes. Jajaja is absolutely delicious! Devoción or Variety for coffee. As far as places to visit, I like McGolrick or Prospect Park, though of course Central Park is grand. Otherwise, it’s great to catch a concert at one of the many venues around the city. I keep things pretty low-key, so I don’t have many suggestions.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who have helped me along the way, in both tangible and intangible ways, when it comes to the success of my business or career. I’d say most importantly, I would have to thank my friends who have pushed me to believe in myself and my purpose when I didn’t. But I’ve encountered so many incredible people in life who have supported me in various ways, from the families of my friends to professors to yoga teachers to random people I’ve come across at events or in coffee shops. To highlight one person or a few people would feel incomplete.
