We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaquana Wise and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaquana, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think about risk like taking a step forward BUT in the right direction that suits you, risk is tricky and has to be taken serious especially if you are going out on a leap..any leap. A risk should be strong and hold no emotions. Taking Risks in my life has been challenging and gracefully rewarding because I am learning and healing myself at the same time ; while I apply what I am learning for myself to be mentally and emotionally stable to push to a career that is not only energetic but feasible. Taking risks in my career as a whole has definitely in the beginning made me feel so curious and almost obsessed to finding out what is the secret to making it financially and literally maintaining a almost empire. It’s a beautiful thing because risks must be had in order to strive and be better than your old self.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart from others is I am a leader by birth, I am the voice of the meek, ones who cannot or will not speak up I am that person to be heard and seen. I am most proud of myself for not giving up while in the roughest situations and hardest struggles I maintained a positive attitude towards success always. I always wanted more than the average as anyone but my intentions is always pure at heart which is why I am who I am now. I got where I am professionally by discipline and remaining curious as to pushing myself to see what’s next. I’m always looking ahead. It was never easy and it still isn’t because you have to remain mentally stable for business, money , growth it’s a process you can’t give up on . I overcame by listening to myself and my body and how my spirit feels when I don’t do what I’m supposed to my body breaks down and I know why, money is energy and it’ll only flow to others by their mindset and how they treat and feel for it. Intentions are real. The lessons I learned is to be patient and stay consistent. You can break a sweat and take a break but you can’t sit down , patience in starting a business and healing yourself is mandatory for a successful organization or business for anybody. My brand is an accolade that keeps going and my story is the mission not only for myself but for other young females coming up and young African Females.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well if my best friend was visiting me i would have to take them to the historical points like walkway bridge , the little Italy district, the Hudson River, we would eat at Frontera for Mexican food or go grocery shopping and make tacos and margaritas at my home with music and conversation. I love to go to lounges out in the NYC area also the pier as well as ANY soul food restaurant all in Brooklyn. We would go to fairs and music festivals to listen to jazz, play pool and drink beer at the pool halls.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout God, Yes that’s right ! Why? Because I truly believe we are Gods in our own right , we heal and grow and elevate only when we push , and with great intentions you manifest what you desire . That is your spiritual leading in you FOR You, and only if you truly apply yourself in every angle. I thank God for being my vessel and strength during times I had no one to lean on or understand. Thank you Asè
