We had the good fortune of connecting with NaTanya Dowell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi NaTanya, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I am a mother to 4 daughters (ages 32, 23, 21 & 10). I think one of the most important things I’ve done was show them what tenacity, perseverance and faith truly looks like.

I’ve endured quite a bit of hardship in my life from illness, chronic pain, and emergency surgeries to being laid off a long term job unexpectedly to deciding to start my own business and going through the ebbs and flows of the journey.

My daughter often tell me how proud of me they are and how much I inspire them. They’ve seen me at my worst but they always see me pray, stand ony faith in God, and battle my way through.

I’ve always been intentional about (1) teaching and showing them that Faith can see us through even the hardest times in life, (2) it’s never too late to change and make an intentional effort towards building the life you desire, and (3) to be a leader to self; not to be led by what others are doing or saying but to be led by what they believe is right, and by what they desire for their lives.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started DoWell Virtual Services in the midst of the pandemic. I had been working in Higher Education on an executive level for approximately 15 years. In 2020, I was laid off as the campus I oversaw was closed due to the pandemic. I was sadden because I had placed a lot of effort and energy into nurturing my career but once I had more free to to truly contemplate what I wanted, I realized I wasn’t happy.

I had spent years feeling stressed, unappreciated overworked, underpaid, and unfulfilled, but I enjoyed helping others so much.

I started working on my first business which was a boutique prior to the closure amd it was hard trying to balance it all. Soon after, I realized that was the direction I would go. I wanted to help others who were in similar positions, that were building there businesses but needed specialized help to make it all work.

DoWell Virtual Services offers Executive VA services, Systems setup and implementation, and Social Media Management and support. Because we value selfcare, it is important that we help our clients not only take care of their business but also take care of themselves so they can operate at their fullest when needed.

We are a thriving agency that still provides boutique-like service to each of our clients. Each clients feels like #1.

We are proud to offer our services to high-performing coaches, consultants, and solopreneurs that need expert level support to help them overcome the overwhelm of running the day to day operations of business. We take on the heavy lifting so they can focus on just showing up in their Zone of Genius!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love a good brunch spot! I literally can brunch every day of the week.

Some of my favorites are Gochas, they have the best steak and eggs dish (I can literally taste it as I speak about it, lol), then there is Breakfast at Barney’s. The wait is really long but it’s worth it. Another great spot is the Breakfast Boys in College Park. It’s a small cozy spot with food that will.make uou slap yo mama (not mine though). Lastly, there’s Broadway Diner. It’s nothing fancy but a great family atmosphere and you can always find something tasty on the menu.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many people in my small community to be thankful for. First of all my husband and best friend, Dexter. He has supported me through some of the highest highs and lowest lows of my life, now he cheers me on as an entrepreneur breaking down barriers for other women and moms like me. Then my parents, Richard and Mary, they have been the greatest support system ever especially when I was working extremely long hours in corporate career phase of my life amd needed help with my children. They helped fill a void that I couldn’t have imagined anyone else doing for me.

Also my coach, Crystal Perkins and my Mastermind sisters, they challenge me, lift me up, and speak life into me everyday!

My previous mentor, Jayna Butler, she made a great impact on my life.

Next is my purpose partner and dear friend, Alycia, Lord only knows where I would be without her.

Lastly, my girls. They are the reason I’ve never given up. They push me and make me better everyday. They are part of the reason I strive to live in purpose and on purpose everyday.

Of course, there are a few
