We had the good fortune of connecting with Dontavius “Dante” Linwood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dontavius “Dante”, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I’m the type of person to overwork myself. I had to find a balance between work and relaxation, especially once my daughter came into the picture. I feel like I have to work 1,000x harder, but can’t forget that I’m only human and I need breaks too. Once I found that balance it helped me a lot mentally and physically, because that can take a huge toll and you if you don’t stop and breathe.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I went through a huge trial in my life. Throughout that trial I started learning more about myself and about others around me. It was definitely a wake up call and showed me that not everyone around you is there for you, especially when they think you don’t have it anymore. When you up that’s when everyone is your friend, but when you down you discover who really there for you. Then covid came around and my life got progressively harder, but I found the good within the bad and turned it something positive.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love skateboarding so I’m always at the skateparks, but I would definitely take them to the Jackson St bridge, that’s a nice view of the city and skyline. Centennial Park is great as well. I don’t drink much anymore so I don’t know many bars. There’s a lot of nature areas that I would take em, providing they enjoy nature.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s so many people that deserve a shout out! My family and friends of course! Without them by my side 24/7 I wouldn’t be here at all.
