We had the good fortune of connecting with Ama Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ama, what do you attribute your success to?
I can summarize the success of my brand in three points: 1. I am persevering, that is, I pursue my goals and if I make a mistake I do not give up, I improved and continue
2. Determination: I trust in myself and in what I can achieve
3. I connect: this is very key, I connect with my client, they can understand their needs and I give them the best solution.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
AmaSpa arose from the need to help the immigrant latin woman who arrives in this country and feels that she has time for everyone except herself. We reinforce that self-esteem through skin care, with massages and facial treatment, I am excited to be able to impact the lives of so many women and help them improve their skin, to feel sure of themselves.

In 2016, due to the situation in my country of origin, I had to emigrate to the United States and before arriving, I decided I wanted to dedicate myself to aesthetics, to have my spa. The goal was already defined, so when I got here, do you know what I did? I created an action plan, and when I arrived in Miami I enrolled in the aesthetic school to obtain the nail license, it was the cheapest, and I had to work and study, I achieved it in record time, 3 months, and thus I obtained little by little the other licenses, I was also building my clientele and also working in a spa. Then in 2020 I decided to move to Atlanta, it was a strong decision to make, but I listened to my intuition as a mother and as a professional, I felt that Miami was not a good environment for my children, so I did not mind any effort I was going to be worth it, but I could also see that my business could grow faster in this state, so I had to start from scratch, and I did it. When you do your work with love, the rest comes in addition, here from the first day I received a lot support of the community, I started here exactly 2 years ago, it has been the best thing that has happened to me since I have been in the United States, I have also had challenges, being here I separated from my husband, and it was another challenge to start alone with my children, With the hand of God I was able to move forward and show that if you can, when you love what you do and give your best, believe me, God blesses you and places you in the right place and with the right people. Last year I won the 2021 entrepreneur award, I have helped improve the skin and strengthen their self-esteem to more than 250 women here in Georgia, another privilege of the year 2021 was being able to be a beauty mentor of the Hispanic organization Realized, I was selected by Latin American Association to tell my story at the 7th annual conference in 2022, I was fortunate to obtain an ELEVATE TOGETHER Grants in alliance with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, where more than 200 companies participated and Amaspa was among the 6.

I want to summarize in this story is that: You can do it!!!! Just trust your ability, create an action plan and do your job with passion and love.
I have learned that the most important thing is not to go fast but to enjoy the journey!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My friend Monica who lives in Spain is about to visit so I would take her to Helen to remember a part of our land Venezuela 🇻🇪, we would go eat at “epa come arepa” that traditional Venezuelan restaurant, and I would take her to Lake Lanier exactly to Margaritaville at Lanier Islands Water Park.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First of all I thank God for giving me health, strength, and filling me with his love, that has been essential for my professional life. Also, to the Latin American Association @thelaa which has given me unconditional support for my business. Likewise, the camera of Georgia trade @ghcc_news has been a great support for my company and I have been able to gain both key insights from them to reach the next level.
