We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Darby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brooke, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to create a brand that had a significance to my personal life. I’ve been in the medical field for over a decade and it has become a passion of mine to invest into something that can produce longevity to those around me. When deciding what exactly what I wanted to create, I thought about someone waking up every morning to begin their workday and how they desired to feel good about themselves as a whole no matter what they may be facing ahead. Something Durable, comfy yet stylish was my ultimate goal. I wanted to create a brand that is for women and by women so that we too can walk into owning the day in confidence.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Bk&Co Scrubs is a brand whose foundation started from my own career within the medical field. What sets my brand apart from others is the visuals actually matching the quality of the product that the customer is receiving. My scrubs are hand made and designed and have been in the works for almost two years. I am so excited to see my goals that were once written in my journal, actually be present and existing.

While it is a beautiful thing to see my vision come to life, it did come with some challenges. Because my scrubs are hand made, I dealt with delays in production, defective scrubs, discoloring issues, missing product and more. I did experience feeling discouraged because I focused so much on a deadline but I had to remind myself that when you are doing something you love, you need to nurture it and practice patience while trusting the process.

I want the world to know that Bk&Co Scrubs is a brand that caters to multiple professions. It was created to inspire women to walk into their field of work feeling confident, comfortable and ready to conquer the day in style. While practicing self care comes in all different forms, dressing the part sets the tone for the day!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
