We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Duran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always been drawn to the beauty industry & tattoos, so starting my own cosmetic tattoo business was a perfect fit. I’m so lucky that I get to help people feel good about themselves every day, My aim is to stay as true to each individual’s natural beauty as possible, while also taking into consideration each client’s lifestyle and skin type, so my results are always unique.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My focus as an artist is on the individual. I work very hard to tailor the experience I provide to match what each client wants and needs. I’m very proud of my in-depth knowledge of an extensive range of cosmetic tattooing services & techniques, pigments, equipment, and facial mapping techniques. Continuing education is a priority for me, so I’m constantly studying when I’m not working.
It’s taken a lot of time, practice & energy to get where I am today, but it’s all been worth it.
My services are for everyone. All genders & all races are welcome in my studio. It’s important that people know I’m here to help them, and if for some reason I’m unable to, I will point them in the right direction.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Athens, GA is an eclectic, artsy, small-ish town, with plenty of fun things to do. I would recommend shopping at Native America, Cheeky Peach, and Dynamite Clothing, along with lots of other locally owned downtown businesses. The Last Resort has amazing Praline Chicken, and Chuck’s Fish serves a lovely variety of fresh seafood dishes. Watson’s Mill State Park is just down the road, where you will find beautiful hiking trails, and one of the state’s oldest covered bridges.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
3 Raven’s Tattoo & Piercing owner Devon Mellor has supported me all along the way, offering advice and resources to help me reach my goals. The Department Head, staff and faculty of Romance Languages at UGA were so kind and encouraging of me pursuing my dreams. I will always be so grateful for my time with them.
