Meet Brianna Batten | Hairstylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianna Batten and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brianna, how do you think about risk?
I believe risk can be anything you make it by trying to achieve your goals. Risk taking has actually helped me tremendously in pursuing my career and following a life path. I think we sell ourselves short when we weigh risk so heavily on our goals . I wouldn’t be following my career without taking risk of starting something i love to do. If you don’t take the risk you will most likely regret it when the time past.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well I am a self taught hairstylist born in NYC and mostly raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I first got into doing hair when i got my first big head Bratz doll lol. I could not put her down. Then when I was around 12 my sister started cosmetology school and I would love when she would come home and show me the styles she learned that day. Ever since then I been in love with doing hair. I feel that it’s a expression of yourself. I think what sets me apart from others is that i love to be creative and try new things. I believe I cater more to clients that have a expressive side and is not afraid to try something new. Although I always had a love for hair I didn’t start expressing it publicly till I was about 16 when I really started to do my own hair like braids and protective styles and started my natural hair journey . I was definitely one of those my mom permed my hair when I was young girls cause it was true . I started my Blexi styles brand in 2019 when I started doing hair on my college campus. Since then I been trying to balance life with my careers ( I have so many interest) . I would say i have definitely progressed since then but i am definitely just getting started and have a long road of success. In the end of just being a hairstylist I want to have my own chain of salons in different states .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m. a in the moment type of girl i feel like best trip is the most unplanned. You gotta go with flow or wherever the night takes you .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Of course it will be my family, God, and life itself. Without my family and life just happening lol I wouldn’t have been exposed to so many hobbies and career paths. I have 3 older sisters that are all interested in different things and me being the youngest I wanted to try everything just like them. I did and found my niches. God has always listen to all my problems and how I wanted to fix them and he all ways guided me too them.
