Meet Milou Pietersz | Founder and CEO | Social Media Strategist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Milou Pietersz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Milou, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
As a former Division 1 student-athlete, I’ve formed many habits that I have been truly grateful for as an entrepreneur now. Some of these habits include time management, never giving up, and discipline. The main habit that has contributed to my success as a business owner is discipline. There are going to be (many) days where you don’t feel like showing up or things get hard and you run into obstacles, but no matter what, I will always show up. This doesn’t mean you will always show up 200%, but it creates an invincible mindset that you need in order to succeed.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m originally from the Netherlands (Dutch), I came to the United States to pursue my Bachelor’s as a Division I student-athlete. During my last year of college, I started exploring the idea of working for myself. I was the former advertising account executive at my university and had record-breaking sales, which inspired me to start a business of my own after I graduated with a degree in media and advertising.
I was working with my first client when I was still in college, volunteered at several organizations, and had many side hustles (UberEats, InstaCart, and coaching tennis). While social media wasn’t my primary income yet, it was always my focus because I had the dream of being an agency-owner.
What started out as a solopreneur journey has now turned into a 6-figure agency where I manage a small team of 5. We now help 6-figure female CEOs scale their impact on social media through strategy and execution. As a student-athlete, I was able to take everything I learned and use it in my entrepreneurial journey. I’m most excited about teaching other social media managers and strategists how to scale into an agency. I’ve launched a membership this month that is exclusively for social media professionals that are looking to pursue this same journey I’ve gone through.
What sets me apart is my background. Throughout my life, I have lived in five different countries in which I experienced many cultures. This has allowed me to get to know all different types of people and cultures, and get a better understanding of the world. I like to use my culturally diverse background and experience in my business as we like to work with brands who share these same values.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a very low-key person, so if a friend were to come visit, I’d plan some trips to local coffee shops, explore nature, and check out the city for dinner and drinks. I appreciate my free time more than anything as an entrepreneur, so in my free time I like to do somewhat ‘relaxing’ activities. People who enjoy good food, deep conversations, and a glass of wine are the people I spend most of my time with.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a huge shout out to Heather, the CEO of Clover Collective. Early 2022, Heather came across my page and hired us for one of her clients. Heather and her team run an extremely successful company that specializes in the operations and management of marketing firms. Not too long after that, I was interested in hiring her. We’ve now been working together for 6+ months and she’s been a crucial element to the explosive growth my business is currently experiencing. She’s been my operations manager, mentor, support, friend, and a lot more in my journey as a young CEO. She brings so much experience and professionalism to the table and I will forever be grateful that our paths crossed.
