Meet Roland Carter | Independent film Writer, Director, and Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Roland Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roland, how do you think about risk?
When I take a risk I think about 2 things how my life will impact by it, and our money flows as a team. As a freelance filmmaker it is always a risk with finding work is our field. especially when you first starting out. you are marketing yourself and looking out for money to produce you and your friends content.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my creative journey at 16 when my father died and I picked and camera and started taking photos and making music. after releasing my 1st mixtape and realizing music wasn’t for me I spent days writing short films and a web series while getting a college degree. it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I spent days trying to get my short and series get a lot of views. Now with covid, it is a little bit harder to film but I am expanding my team/family to make something beautiful out of a bad position. Due to covid it did give us the time to rebuild and plan out some of the new projects we will be shooting this year.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to reverb for a nice rooftop brunch one day. go to Traffik Kitchen and Cocktails on Tuesday for a lit night. go to painted duck, Puttshack Atlanta, and Mercedes Benz stadium for a falcon or Atlanta united game. Then the last night I would have us just walking around Downtown Atlanta taking pictures and just enjoying our time in the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my GORGEOUS fiance Indya Bussey she is an amazing actress and wonderful writer. Also my best friend Devin Williams a genus behind a lens and a great writer as well. Kaleb and Tina Mitchell OF Bravyhouse they a married couple who own their own there production company and both fire ass actors. Master Cherrylittaa Castedio owner of Master Soda, camerawoman, and editor. Mustapha Slack is another great actor. All these people I am shouting out are people that I’ve worked with or wanted to work with and really enjoy their work.
