We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandez Tronshaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandez, how do you think about risk?
When I think about risk I tend to think about any sort of barrier that an individual has to break down to get to the next level. Everything that we do involves a risk when trying to get better. Nothing in this world is ever accomplished without risk so I approach it as something that will happen a lot in my life time. Taking risks has been the core to some of the best accomplishments in life. Being that I am a artist I have to devote a lot of time into my craft while still being a full time student. Risking my time each and everyday for a passion that only around 10% of those that try it can make a living off of it. Things like this used to be unbearable to think about sometimes but that is why I decided to approach risks as something that aren’t life ending and more so very frequent. We have to take risks everyday just to stand in comfortable clothes, live in nice homes, and even spend quality time with loved ones.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The most proud moment I would say about my music is becoming fully vulnerable when I make it. I feel like for every artist it often takes some time for them to express their own true emotions about subjects or past experiences. Once I became vulnerable in my music I felt like my abilities began to change for the better. I became more versatile and more expressive in regards to my current emotions based on my environment and past. It opened up a door for me as well to manifest within my music which I feel like is very important because of the power of the tongue. I wouldn’t say that getting to where I am today is easy at all it definitely takes hard work. There have been times when I wanted to give up for days straight but I seem to always come back to my laptop and press record. I over came these challenges by telling myself continuously that nothing great is made over night. I never gave up because I knew my worth. I want the world to know that as long as you know your worth you will never end up with what you didn’t deserve. Keep pushing !
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A couple favorite spots that I like to show people are the Trap Music Museum, the King center and the Mercedes Benz stadium. These are the three places I would take someone along with plenty food spots that would fill up this entire page if I name them all.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a special shoutout to my mother Dr. Napatia Tronshaw-Gettings. She is an outstanding woman who has the most pure intentions on life and has worked everyday to make sure that I am in the best position possible. Her determination and quality of work make up the blueprint of my success. If I could hold anyone accountable for impacting a new generation and leading the world to a better place it would definitely be my mother. As I make my music in the studio I often times try to set my drive and will to the same height that she does with her everyday life.
