We had the good fortune of connecting with Benji Fetch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Benji, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I feel like being resilient has help me succeed. I never give up on myself and even when I feel like I should… I don’t. Consistency is key.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My music is my whole world. Anyone that knows me knows that I am always jotting down little poems and raps any and everywhere. It’s like an escape for me and it has been for my entire life. I think the thing that sets me apart from other rappers in my community is that I actually rap about my own life. I often time try and listen to other gay male artist and it’s hard to relate because they speak from a perspective that they have never experienced. However, when it comes to Benji Fetch, I write when I am inspired and only my own experiences inspire me (good, bad, ugly and beautiful). I think It’s important to talk about things for the younger generations to know they are not the only ones going through certain situations. I also like to tell how I address said situations and the results I got. I am super proud of my first EP “Butchqueen” and I am even more excited about my new single “Cinderella” which will be on my new EP “Butchqueen 2:

Redemption.” It was not easy getting to where I am. It took a while for me to find my sound and get comfortable being myself, especially in a industry that embraces toxic masculinity. I was able to overcome because of my relseliance. I have a goal and I am nowhere near it. I want to be Beyoncé lol and JAY-Z. Along the way I learned to be in charge of my own business and not to let others intimidate me into being something that I am not. I want the world to know that Benji Fetch is self made. I got it out the mud and this rose is just beginning to sprout.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friends were visiting Atlanta I would have to take them to 9 mile station on the rooftop of Ponce City Market for French 75’s or margaritas. The view of the city is just stunning from up there. We would also more than likely hike Kennesaw Mountain and run Piedmont Park at some point as well. I love the belt line on sundays too. It’s so full of culture!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends and family have been a huge support for me. They are always super supportive and inspirational. I would like to give a special thanks to my bestie Ryan for recommending this! Also my late father, mother, and brother Darius for being supportive of my dreams. They know me best and know the hard work and grind that goes into Benji Fetch.
