Meet Adam Guard | Full Time Dreamer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Guard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adam, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Well it’s an apt time to talk about risk. I just left my well paying day job in commercial real estate to become a full time entrepreneur or as I like to say…a full time dreamer. The risk is huge, I am recently married and bought a house 6 months ago so I have some large responsibilities that I need to be able to take care of. But overall what I want to say about risk is that it’s all about the reason and approach. You can’t just jump out of an airplane with the dream of surviving. You need to think about the risks involved and grab a parachute to help you have the best chance of executing your dream or goal. I think that if anyone sitting at home has a dream that scares them like I do, this is where you start. You don’t just jump and hope, you are on solid ground now so go ahead and play hypotheticals in your head. Think of every obstacle and game plan to overcome them. Then, and this is the most important step, you need to jump. Take that risk, I promise you won’t ever regret chasing your dreams.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I will stick with Dreamer Cigar today, one of the umbrella companies under the Dreamer National name. Dreamer Cigars started as a podcast where we smoke cigars while we talk about the dreams, struggles, and overall story of our guest. While we still love hearing about our guests stories we have molded into more of a cigar education company trying to be the bridge in the cigar community to the next generation of smokers. We are still in the early stages of the business and there have definitely been times where we have wanted to quit but thinking about the audience first has always pulled us through. We want to change the intimidation around cigars and help people feel comfortable walking into lounges and feeling like they belong. The cigar community has a reputation of being scary or even uninviting which could not be further from the truth. Our passion for this business stems from the fact that the community is one of the last industries that is truly genuine. Cigar company owners, retail shop owners, and just casual smokers all build each other up and support each other. It is truly refreshing to experience in a world where everyone tries to tear each other down to get on top. So what I want people to walk away with is that we are here to serve our audience and if you want to learn about cigars and join the cigar community you can contact us on any of our pages and we will gladly help you out!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Man this is a tough question. Atlanta has so may things to offer but as a cigar guy I’ll give you the ultimate Atlanta Cigar Experience!
Day 1 – We will start downtown with the Red Phone Booth Lounge. A fantastic cigar lounge and an overall fun experience. It is a speakeasy style meaning that you need the code in order to get in. While it’s not difficult to obtain, I won’t giveaway the code here in the spirit of the Red Phone Booth and it’s people.
Day 2 – We can head on over to the Battery which is where the Braves stadium is surrounded by an ocean of bars and restaurants. One of these being Burn by Rocky Patel. This Cigar Lounge is popular so we will get in early to get a seat. They not only have good cigars but top notch drinks and some finger foods as well.
Day 3 – We will head north a little to Village Cigar. I really enjoy some cigars and billiards so this is one of my favorite spots. It is not a large place but worth the visit no doubt.
Day 4 – We head over to the Cigar Cellar. This place is truly a fantastic cigar experience. The atmosphere is hard to match and the people are a lot of fun.
Day 5 – We end the trip a little outside of the city in Alpharetta at Cutters Cigar and Spirits Lounge. This place has kind of been my home base for Cigars and for good reason! The outdoor patio, large bar, private room, and TVs everywhere make it an attraction in itself. But that’s not at all. They also have one of the biggest humidors in Atlanta with a very nice selection to choose from. Cigar smoker or not, this place is worth a visit.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my wife Teresa. She has been an incredible rock through the ups and downs of chasing my dreams and has never once doubted me. It takes a lot to be a dreamer but sometimes I feel like it takes more to support a dreamer. Her strength in my times of doubt keeps me going.
Her confidence in me gives me the courage to believe in myself. Behind every successful dreamer is a very strong support system and I have several people in my corner from my brother, parents, grandparents, friends, mentors, and more. It would take pages to mention everyone that has helped me get to where I am at today. I am truly blessed and thankful.
