We had the good fortune of connecting with Lily Graciela and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lily, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Right now my favorite affirmation is “One Day at a Time.” I can tend to get easily overwhelmed and this helps me to remember that I just need to focus on the tasks at hand and go one day at a time.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
for me being in a creative field hasn’t been the easiest. I have heard a lot of no’s and gotten a lot of criticism. however, I think the voices that stand out the most are the ones that have said yes. the music industry is incredibly difficult in that there are so many different expectations with performance, body image, the idea of hustle, etc. i try really hard to balance the lifestyle i want with putting in the work and energy i need to see an end result for any of my creative projects.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I LOVE WHERE I LIVE!!

A favorite day in my life is a Saturday morning in Charlottesville.

We’d start by going to the farmer’s market, having a cup from AB Coffee, saying hi to my friends that own the taco stand, and getting too many tacos to count. We’d sit and chat on my mexican blanket i picked up in the middle of a random gas station in florida for $10 and lay out in the sun. Later in the day we would go to a concert at the Garage or the Jefferson and just take the day slow and easy.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I love this! So I absolutely have just the best support systems in my life and I think right now the shout-out would definitely have to go to the Webb and Wirt families. They have certainly seen me through a lot of downs and cheered me on through a lot of ups. I love that with them my friendship has nothing to do with what I accomplish.
