We had the good fortune of connecting with Cristy Kisner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cristy, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Today many people suffer from food allergies, intolerances, autoimmune diseases and even cancers that force them to change their diets. My family knows how difficult it is to find a safe place when you have so many dietary restrictions, but even more so, how difficult it is to find a healthy restaurant that offers homemade food made with organic ingredients and full of nutrients. Our goal is that the whole family can sit at the table despite their different diets and enjoy delicious and super healthy food. In addition, we ship our frozen food to more than 20 states throughout the country, to help many families to have an exquisite meal full of nutrients on their table just by heating it.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I firmly believe that life is a continuous lesson, we come to learn, to grow as people. Every challenge, every difficulty, every tragedy in our lives has a purpose, and many times we drown in problems without realizing what we have to learn. Our business in Peru went bankrupt, we lost everything, and we thought it was the end of the world, when we immigrated to the United States, we thought things would get better, but we didn’t have a penny, and the pandemic started, everything got worse instead of better, and we could have given up, but with 5 daughters, that was not an option. We have worked very hard, we have been blessed, but the lesson does not end, Sometimes I think it has just begun. With everything we have experienced, we believe that we all have a mission in life and I believe that ours is to help as many families as we can through our kitchen, offering them the best organic ingredients and my best recipes so that they can enjoy a spectacular meal and they can share as a family and give their bodies the necessary nutrients to be healthy and feel great. We are a completely gluten and dairy free restaurant, so our customers can feel safe that we do not have cross contamination, we do not use soy, oats, cornstach and we do not use peanuts.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, of course I would put together a gluten and dairy free basket with products from Cristy’s Kitchen, my delicious vegan breads with chicken salad filling, my vegan spinach and artichoke pot pie, my Peruvian spicy chicken empanadas, my tropical green smoothie and my lucuma cheesecake (a peruvian fruit) and I would take her on a picnic to the Chatachoochee River. Nothing better to feel gratitude for life than to admire nature in good company and with the best homemade food.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When we just arrived in America, our friends Carlos and Daniel were the ones who helped us survive and open the doors of the restaurant. We had many angels on our way. Then, Brandon Stanton, creator of Humans of New York became one of our frequent customers since the pandemic began, and he was the one who made our small restaurant in Roswell known to the whole world and who helped me share with many people that there is hope behind every diagnosis and every story, and that we from the kitchen have the power to prevent and cure through food.
