We had the good fortune of connecting with Malaika Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Malaika, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my dedication to providing a quality product. People pay good money for my products so i believe in exemplary customer service. I enjoy seeing my customers reactions when they receive their products. I take my bling art very serious. Never provide someone with a product that you wouldn’t purchase yourself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So I am a Bling Artist. The name of my company is Blingeethings. I bling just about anything. Jerseys, footballs, basketballs, tumblers, and tennis shoes. If rhinestones will stick to it I will do it. All of my projects are individually applied rhinestones while yes can be time consuming it is also very therapeutic. My business came about due to being a big time New England Patriots fan. Everyone has the same team paraphernalia and I wanted to be different. What better way than to sparkle so I started blinging my jerseys and tennis shoes. What I am most proud of is I have done some items for a few celebrities. To get to where I am professionally now it took alot of hard work, classes, dedication to the craft and sometimes sacrificing my social life. Was it worth it? Absolutely!! I have learned that some of your biggest supporters will be strangers. In the beginning it was kind of hurtful that the people you think would support you didn’t but I couldn’t let that deter me from my goal of becoming a full time entrepreneur. It is my passion and gives me a definite sense of accomplishment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I like to hang out a few different places in Atlanta. Let’s see we would definitely have to make a stop at The Red Phone Booth best smoked old fashions in Atlanta. Next we would need some good eats at either Nouveau or Agave. If you are looking for an amazing steak Stoney River Grille. I grew up in Decatur so for some good drinks and music let’s head to Silk at Candler or Sudo’s. If they like pasta on Tuesday we can catch the amazing special at Salt and Pepper Kitchen that Chef Kodak prepares. Definitely go hang out at Ponce Market. Rooftop bars and Carnival games. If you aren’t scared of heights head to the ferris wheel near Centennial Park. While you are down that way there the CNN Center, Phillips Areana, and Mercedes-Benz stadium.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. They taught me that I can do anything I put my.mind to. My mother especially for always being encouraging and believing in me no matter what!!
