Meet Alexandria X | Creative Director & Production Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandria X and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandria, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
As someone in the film industry, I feel that outsiders are unaware of the amount of time filmmakers put into their craft. Not only when it comes to ideation or prepping, but the amount of hours that we spend on set making it happen. We are working anywhere between 10 and 14 hour days, five sometimes six days a week. Doing this work is definitely something that you have to be committed to because it is not for the weak.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a creative, it is important to me that my art not only be aesthetically pleasing, but that it promote and accurately represent my community. The biggest motivation behind all my art is the idea of representation. Showing the world what I am about and what my people are about, I believe, is the most compelling way to further advance our community. Thus far in my professional career I can say I have had a range of experiences, some amazing, others I would never want to endure again. Despite it all, the growth has been nothing short of exponential. Along the way I have learned that commitment and hard work will take you far. Learning how to be flexible and focus on the bigger picture is what has truly helped me overcome any obstacles I have faced. My passion and drive to achieve my goals is what continues to propel me forward.
While I know it already is, I am excited to see my dedication pay off fully. I’m ready to start telling the stories that are important to not only me, but my people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had to show a friend around the area, I would want to show them what Atlanta is really about. I would start off with an art walk. I would take them around Krog Street/ Dekalb Ave to see the graffiti art and murals. We would hit the belt line to see more pieces and really appreciate to dole artists that have put their work on display for the community.
Day 2, I would have to make it a bit more chill and really focus on the cuisine. Probably hit up a coffee shop such as Chocolatte in the morning and then grab lunch at Tsilli’s and end the day with a dinner from Desta Ethiopian Kitchen.
I would take them around to some Atlanta staples such as Ponce city market, The High, and Krog Street market.
If we are feeling a night out on the town we might go visit somewhere such as Atlantic Station or The Battery, just to see what we can get into.
Lastly I would want to show them some of the lovely parks that we have in the area, because that’s one of my favorite things to do. Probably hit up Piedmont, Inman, or Historic Mims park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Firstly, I would not be where I am if it was not for the power and grace of God. He has placed amazing people in my life such as Chad Chambers and Kiah Clingman, that gave me my foot in the door in this industry. I also have to recognize Thiree “Spike Ree” Pinnock and Tiara Marei, who saw my potential and gave me the opportunity to show them what I’m about. These individuals, in addition to the nonstop encouragement from my lovely mother, allowed me get to the point that I am at now.
