We had the good fortune of connecting with Deirdre Cuneo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deirdre, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in Woodbridge, Va. My upbringing had a major impact on who I am today. I was raised in a home where fighting, alcoholism and drugs were the “norm” As a result, I suffered with PTSD and depression. Unhealthy relationship dynamics and violence was the life model I had been accustomed to. I in turn adopted similar dynamics in my adult life. I am a survivor of childhood abuse and domestic violence. With time, I sought help and looked inwards. I focused on my mental health and creating/ maintaining healthy boundaries in order to be a healthier person inside and out. I know that if I take better care of myself (mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually), I can be a better person, and be a better person, and a better mom.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a travel advisor and content creator, The most exciting thing about it is that i get to experience new things with my family, I take my 2 kids with me most places that I travel. It gives me time to strengthen my bond with them, that means a lot to me. I got where I am today by not being afraid to ask for help and being patient. I struggled to find myself because, I was afraid that people wouldn’t like who i am/judge me or that i would fail. I want the world to know that it is okay to just simply be yourself no matter your upbringing/background. “Failure is not the opposite of success it’s part of success.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My dad and my sisters have always been there to encourage, uplift as well as support me through any and everything even as an adult. They constantly remind me of my self worth and I will always be grateful for the love and support they have always given me.
