We had the good fortune of connecting with Mareshah Lawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mareshah, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is the faith that I have in God. He has been my number one advocate. He saw greatness in me even when I didn’t see greatness in myself and he really pushed me to become the person I am today. Another important factor behind my success is the support that I am able to have from the people around me. My KEC family definitely plays a huge factor, they hold me accountable for the assignment I was given for my brand. You need a great support team behind you to hold you accountable and to help you stay consistent.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well, again I am a Fashion Stylist & Model located in Atlanta, GA. I can say the road to success is not easy. Sometimes while finding the success you are also finding yourself. For me, I finding myself in God and truly knowing what was my purpose here on this earth. However to the people that are reading this do not give up because your purpose is attached to so many people. I believe what may set me apart from other people is the true passion that I have to see people for who they truly are. I want women all over the world to know how valuable they are. I want them to know they do not have to settle for the ways of this world or settle for what society would prefer for them to look like. Your natural beauty is the best beauty. When people see my brand I want them to one be encouraged but I also want them to see that success or beauty doesn’t always look a certain way. I remember as a child always getting bullied for how I look so I want people to know that just because you may be rejected by the world doesn’t mean you’re rejected by God. He can still use you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was coming into town, I would have to take her to 5 church Atlanta which is a really high-end rooftop bar in Downtown Atlanta. I would take her to the BeltLine, Stone Mountain, Arabia Mountain, and more fun rooftop bars in Atlanta. I would take her to some of the shopping plazas like Phipps Plaza and Lennox Square. I’m very adventurous. I love outdoor activities and I love to get dressed and take pictures.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Again I would love to give a shout-out to big G.O.D cause without him I would be nothing. I would also love to shout out the beautiful Prophet Rachel and Pastor Michael Senior. I met them when I was 16 years old and they have both shown nothing but unconditional love. They are amazing role models and I thank God every day for them. You know sometimes they say blood is thicker than water but I have found in many cases that statement to be untrue. I also would love to shout out Kyle and Janae Robertson (spiritual parents) who have been there through all of my ups and downs but they saw in me what God sees in me. I would also love to shout out my mom and dad, Alantino Beavers, and Rebecca Grogan, thank you guys for all of the love and the support that you guys give. Lastly a big shout out to my Kingdom Empowerment Center Family and Friends. Without the help and support of you guys, I have no idea how I would have made it this far. They have shown nothing but true love and support. I’m so thankful for the many lives that have made such a huge impact in my life.
