We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristy Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I heard and trust the voice of God to take the biggest risk of my life, standing on my faith to bring life back to a desolate place in order for the people of God to come and Worship him. This is how Stand To Be Different Birthing Center came about, with no money, but a vision from the Lord and five members. I was able to produce the will of God,in a place that should been condemned, the roof was fallen in, the yard over grown with weeds and the floors was caving in. But God told me to rehab this place of Worship for his people to have a safe haven and give him all the praise an glory. And not only that we were able to produce shirts, hats, and bags, in order to sustain the ministry. I am glad I took the risk and came off my job after ten years, because something great came out of it.

Now, if I could encourage anybody today: I would tell them, do not let your fears, make you not take the risk, because you will never know how it would all come out.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My mentorship and leadership sets me me about from others. I got here because of God and Christ Jesus trusting them and not giving up hope. And I would not take no for answer.

I want them to know no matter where you came from, it does not predict your future and the lesson I learned no matter how hard it is never give up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to City Walk, then to Miller’s Streak House to eat, and we will do some shopping at the Oaks Mall. And to end it we will do Sunday Service at STBD.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
