We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaveria Holliman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaveria, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that no one in this world would be successful without taking a risk. Everyone has to take a chance on themselves in order to be successful. Everything that I have done in life has always been taking a risk. There were moments I’ve spent my last dime to fund my business, and doubled my earnings off of one investment. You must believe in yourself and your plan and you will see a return, whether you fail or succeed. You’re still 1 step ahead from where you were before.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sunflower & Company Esthetics is a brand built from strength. I birth this business in 2021 after 1 year of just dreaming. Then, I was known as Slay by Sha to many. A makeup artist and hairstylist in Valdosta, GA. The transition in business came after I fell in love with waxing videos and then also finding out that Makeup Artistry was apart of Esthetics.
After relaunching, I focused on building relationships and trust with my clients and customers rather than just a business transaction. Doing this was not easy because growth isn’t comfortable. I had to do something I wasn’t used to in order to get different outcome.

One of the biggest lessons is to leave old habits behind me to form a new and ideal life that will benefit not only myself but my child, family, and many others.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my son. Being a mother has allowed me to grow into an amazing woman. I would be the business woman I am today without him. I would also like to thank God for allowing my faith to triumph all obstacles.
