We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Davy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?

I pursued a creative career because I express myself best through creativity. And also….nothing else seemed to make me feel as fulfilled as when I am building on a design and seeing it come to fruition. Since I was about 11 years old, I’ve wanted to become a Fashion Designer. Throughout my adult years, I’ve pursued several other paths. So far, they have all led me back here, to my brand; A-Fi-Pearl.
I created A-Fi-Pearl as a dedication to my grandmother who loved fashion and also to dress women of all sizes. I have always wanted to create fashionable pieces for curvy women. That has always been a major goal of mine. I remember going into stores and being highly disappointed in the options within the plus sized sections. Although, I never shopped in that department, I still wanted to the selection to be better than it was. So, I vowed to make my brand inclusive and welcoming to all women, because we all come in different shapes and sizes.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

This is a one-woman show; so that means that I do EVERYTHING. I am the fashion designer, I package and ship the orders, I created my website, I am the social media manager, bookkeeper, graphic artist, stylist and anything else I need to be. LOL. I make sure that everything runs smoothly. That is what keeps me busy professionally; I wear many hats.
I am excited about what my future holds. I work hard, I am determined and I am open to trying new things. With those 3 traits, I feel confident that my brand will excel and be well known and respected in the coming years.
I want the world to know that this Jamaican born designer has so much more to offer and will continue to deliver. My story continues.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Breakfast would be at Toast on Lenox. This is definitely one of the hotspots in the city. You can meet some of the most interesting people there, with the dopest fashion and the food is awesome!
For Lunch, you can take your friend to Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q . Order the Fox Bros. Burger. Your taste buds will thank you!
For dinner, you should definitely go to Negril Village in Atlanta. The vibe is Exceptional, the food is Exceptional and the drinks are exceptional.
We would check out Stone Mountain Park, the Botanical Garden, Centennial Olympic Park, the MLK Museum, Little Five Points (an ATL staple), and definitely Piedmont Park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

My Shoutout is dedicated to my mom: Marcia. she has been my rock, encouragement, support, and my biggest fan throughout it all. She has always been by my side to guide me to what works, what doesn’t, and to pick me up when I’m not feeling my best. I wouldn’t be the person I can be proud of today, if it wasn’t for her. Thank you, Mom!
